More Like “Hunk 2”: Jeph Loeb And Jim Lee Take Center Stage In DC Comics ‘H2SH’ Trailer

Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee in H2SH promo

H2SH, the highly anticipated sequel to one of the biggest selling comics of all-time, Batman: Hush, is almost here. And to continue the hype train, DC Comics has done the next-best thing to releasing a Hush Swimsuit Special*: a trailer featuring two hunks — H2NKS, if you will — Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee.

(*Leave your speculation about what the bandages are covering in the comments below!)

In the brief tease, we get to see plenty of “footage” from the upcoming comic arc, which will kick off in the March 26 debuting Batman #158. In it, Lee and Loeb, along with Scott Williams, Alex Sinclair and Richard Starkings will follow up the 2002 story that introduced the Batman baddie, Hush, who was later revealed to be Bruce Wayne’s childhood friend Tommy Elliott.

However, the promo leaves the biggest reveals not for the comic book motion comic art, which shows off Batman fighting Joker fish, and some Joker goons, but for Lee and Loeb in the flesh. They slo-mo walk, backs to the camera, until they sit down on a couch and are revealed as none other than Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb, looking like they’re about to throw down this Sunday on Wrestlemania.

And sure, even if it is funny to have these two comic book legends presented with all the pomp and circumstance of Lady Gaga dropping her next album… DC isn’t wrong to do so. As much of a draw as Batman (you know the guy, he’s in a couple of comic books, movies, TV shows, and even a video game or two) taking on Hush again is, the real draw is Loeb and Lee back together after over two decades.

In fact, nothing against Loeb who has been sporadic in his comic book work for a while, though is in the midst of a sequel to Batman: The Long Halloween, but the even bigger deal may be Lee on interiors. Though he’s provided numerous covers over the years, his interior work has been extremely rare — he participated in the publisher’s New 52 relaunch, but not too much since — so getting him to draw all six issues of this initial arc (the story is planned for six more issues, to debut at a later date) is pretty special, indeed.

You can watch the trailer for yourself, here. Batman #158 hits stores on March 26.
