Who Is 2A In Invincible?

Invincible Season 3 Oliver and Debbie

2A is Oliver. Oh, I’m sorry, am I supposed to drag out the answer to the question in the headline — who is 2A in Invincible — for another 600 words before I give you the answer to the question? My apologies.

Okay, fine, I’ll give you a little more context here in case you have no idea what I’m talking about, and spoilers past this point. In this week’s episode of the Prime Video series, titled “All I Can Say Is I’m Sorry,” we follow a new villain named Powerplex, aka Scott Duvall, voiced by Aaron Paul. After losing his sister and niece in Omni-Man’s (J.K. Simmons) attack on Chicago, Scott spends time trying to prosecute Invincible (Steven Yeun). It doesn’t work, so he goes and gets a job at the GDA (Global Defense Agency).

While there, he witnesses another big fight, this time with Anissa (Shantel VanSanten), who is categorized as Viltrumite Subject #3 when we see her on screens in the GDA. Right after that? We see what looks like Donald and someone else watching Oliver (Christian Convery) rip apart the Mauler Twins from a few episodes back. The on-screen designation? Viltrumite Subject #2A:

Viltrumite Subject 2A on Invincible

The issue — and reason people are confused about the 2A thing — is if you weren’t watching the screens in the background of the scenes, you would have missed this numbering. Following the montage, a scientist at the GDA says that “V.S. 3” aka Anissa did “kick the crap out of Invincible.” While Scott is pissed off about the whole situation, and the scientist agrees that Invincible seems to get special treatment, another GDA worker disagrees.

“Maybe you’ve forgotten but Invincible is the only real weapon we’ve got right now if more Viltrumites show up,” he says. “Till 2A grows up, at least.”

So yeah, 2A is Oliver, who will likely be grown up next week at the pace he’s going. If you’re wondering about the overall designation, it’s likely that Omni-Man is Viltrumite Subject #1, and Invincible is Viltrumite Subject #2. That’s TBC, but seems like a fair guess given what we know.

Once again, nearly 600 words later: Oliver, aka Kid Omni-Man, is 2A on Invincible. That’s who they’re referring to. See? Not so mysterious after all.
