James Gunn Reveals First Look At ‘Lanterns’

The first look at Lanterns, the HBO/DCU Green Lantern series has arrived. And wouldn’t you know it, there are two guys.

Specifically Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, the stars of the just-in-production series. And the first look photo will have you humming “Just 2 Guyz” by The Lonely Island, at least until you zoom in on Chandler’s hand(ler).

Yep, that’s our first look at the Green Lantern ring in the series, and the DCU. While it’s not much, it does point to the more down to earth take on the characters than previously seen on screen.

Wrote Gunn on Bluesky, “Excited that #Lanterns is now in production. DC Studios’ new show for HBO and Max, from creators Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, & Tom King, starring Kyle Chandler & Aaron Pierre, is something really special.”

There’s no premiere date yet for the series, but expect the eight episodes to hit some time in 2026.
