This April, Marvel Comics is rebooting Amazing Spider-Man with a new #1 by Joe Kelly, Pepe Larraz and John Romita, Jr. So you know what that means: the countdown to Amazing Spider-Man #975, which is Amazing Spider-Man #11, has begun!
Honestly have no idea why people find it difficult to get into comics. Did you know there’s a comic called Amazing Spider-Man #68.DEATHS coming out next Wednesday, despite that not being a number? It’s true!
Anyway, in new teaser art distributed by Marvel with art by Larraz teases the “countdown to The Amazing Spider-Man #975,” and includes several intriguing, well, teases. You’ve got what looks like classic Venom alongside classic Carnage, despite neither of those symbiotes being particularly classic at the moment. There are also a bunch of pumpkin bombs in the bottom of the look, which could indicate Norman Osborn’s full return to Green Goblin, or possibly (more likely) a Hobgoblin.
There’s also what might be Venomouse (who will be introduced in the upcoming Web of Venomverse one-shot), a spaceship, and looming over everything likely Hellgate, the new villain being introduced in the run.
But most curious is the new costume Spider-Man is wearing, which looks like the Spider-Man 2099 costume — but including some circuits reminiscent of X-Men villains The Phalanx. Putting all this together, are we taking a jump to the future? Or is Peter Parker messing around with the Technarchy?
We’ll know more as the march to either issue #11 or #975 continues!
