Marvel may kill Thor.

Gwen Stacy returns, as… Gwenpool?
This is Comic Book Club News for February 20, 2025.
Marvel Teases Death Of Thor:
Is Marvel going to kill The Immortal Thor? Quite possibly, as a bare bones teaser sent out by the publisher states only “Even an immortal can die.”
The only other details is that this will happen in, where else, The Immortal Thor by Al Ewing and Jan Bazaldua, and it’ll happen in May. That times out with issue #23 of the series — so if Marvel is killing Thor, you can probably expect some sort of new status quo in July when The Immortal Thor #25 hits. Maybe it’ll be zombie Thor, I don’t know.
So will Thor die? We’ll know more once Marvel’s full solicits for May hit, so stay tuned.
Skuxxoid Returns In Void Rivals:
Wreck-Gar, a Transformer with a mustache, arrives in Skybound’s Energon Universe with Void Rivals #19. But perhaps more important to me personally: somehow, Skuxxoid has returned.
Okay, let’s take a little step back here. Skybound has released its solicits for two Energon Universe titles hitting in May: Void Rivals #19, and G.I. Joe #7. In the latter, we’ll get to see the first appearance of Beach Head, and the return of Night Force in a standalone covert op mission written by Joshua Williamson, with art by Andrea Milana.
Meanwhile, Void Rivals #19 is also a standalone story, but it’s one the fans demanded: a Skuxxoid origin story that, per PR provided to Comic Book Club will “answer all of your burning questions and more!” And along for the ride is the first appearance of Wreck-Gar and the Junkions. This issue will be written by Robert Kirkman, with art by Lorenzo De Felici.
…So other than how Skuxxoid is alive after getting chopped in half in an earlier issue, the biggest question is: how does a Transformer have a mustache? Is it made of hair? Metal? Does it grow? What exactly is going on here?
Hopefully that will be answered when Void Rivals #19 hits stores on May 28. G.I. Joe #7 hits on May 21.
Gwen Stacy Returns As Gwenpool In New Series:
As teased last week, Gwen Stacy is coming back to Marvel Comics. But to make things even weirder, the formerly dead girlfriend of Spider-Man is returning as the all-new Gwenpool, in a brand-new series.
Written by Cavan Scott with art by Stefano Nesi, the new series finds the resurrected Gwen Stacy battling against the original Gwenpool, aka Gwendolyn Poole, and Spider-Man.
Said Scott: “To tear both Gwenpool AND Spider-Man’s worlds apart? Yes please! Gwen Stacy is back from the grave and deadlier than ever. Weapon-X style abilities? Check. A line in killer put-downs? You’ve got it. This is NOT the Gwen you remember. But just who is behind her miraculous resurrection? And what has happened to the original Gwenpool’s usually careful existence? Add Kate Bishop and Jeff the Land Shark to the mix and you have the Marvel series of my dreams!”
Naturally, the internet responded extremely normally to this news, and was not upset at all. Gwenpool #1 hits stores on May 14.
