Alice Darrow is likely best known for her animation work on Futurama, Disenchantment, and others. Or perhaps you know her cover art for Dark Horse Comics on Shaolin Cowboy: Cruel to Be Kin #1, If You Find This, I’m Already Dead #3, Operation Sunshine: Already Dead #2, From the World of Minor Threats: Barfly #3, and Paranoid Gardens #5. But now she’s breaking out on her own with Tramps of the Apocalypse, a satirical, three-issue series coming to the publisher later this year.
Along with Darrow, who is both writing and illustrating, the book will be colored by Hugo Blanc and lettered by Frank Cvetkovic.
“I have been working on this project for years, and I am so incredibly grateful and lucky that Dark Horse decided to give this goofy newbie a chance,” said Darrow via a press release. “I am honored to be carrying on my father’s comic book legacy of ‘fighting fascists in the desert’—now more than ever.”
Described by Dark Horse as perfect for fans of Bitch Planet, Kali, and Grindhouse, Tramps of the Apocalypse takes place in 2094, when men rule the world. The Earth is now a barren wasteland, and led by Quest Ragnor, King of Males, the men have taken over the remaining cities and enslaved the women. All, that is, except “three super bimbos” named Baby, Belladonne, and Babette.
Per PR, “Unwilling to bend to the whims and desires of the buffoons in charge, too slippery to be caught, and too sexy for chains, these three bangin’ babes are at the top of Quest Ragnor’s most wanted list. Unfortunately for him, they couldn’t care less.”
Tramps of the Apocalypse #1 hits comic shops on June 25, 2025. And yes, in case you were wondering: Alice Darrow is Geof Darrow’s daughter.
