With the way things wrap up at the end of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 1, we’re going to need Season 2… And ASAP. Given all the wild twists, turns, and cliffhangers, there’s a lot to unpack for the wallcrawler now that he’s fully embraced his destiny. But when will Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 premiere on Disney+?
Full disclosure up top, Marvel Animation has yet to announce a premiere date for a second season. But before you click out immediately… Just know that we can offer up some educated speculation about when to expect the sophomore season, based on what we know about where they are in the production process, as well as how other seasons of Marvel shows have spaced out.
So with that in mind, let’s get into what we know about the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 premiere date.
Will There Be A Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 On Disney+?
Let’s get the basic info out of the way, first: yep, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has been renewed for Season 2. In fact, the series has already been renewed through Season 3! Which is great news because animated shows take time, so the further ahead they can work, the better.
To put a small asterisk here, the world of streaming TV is in a lot of flux. So of course something could happen where production is halted, the company changes direction, etc. But as of right now the plan is to produce at least three seasons of adventures for Peter Parker (Hudson Thames) and his amazing friends.
When Will Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 Premiere On Disney+? What We Know So Far
Even more good news, web-slinger fans… As of late last month, the Marvel Animation team was already hard at work on Season 2 of the series. According to Marvel Studios’s Brad Winderbaum, as of January 26, all the scripts for Season 2 were done, and they were “halfway through the animatics,” which means the rough wireframes that get laid down before the more polished animation. And the pitch for Season 3 is coming “in a couple of weeks.”
To be clear, this is still a long process, with a lot to be done, particularly since we’re talking (presumably) 10, 30-minute episodes for Season 2. Animation needs to be worked on, lines recorded, etc, etc. So don’t expect them to jam out Season 2 any time in the next couple of months.
That said? Normal rule of thumb is that an animated season of TV takes about a year and a half to two years to produce. If they’re done with scripts and already into the animatics, it’s highly likely that we’ll see Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 some time in early 2026, possibly on the same sort of schedule as Season 1 — meaning debuting in late January, early February.
As a point of reference, we can look at the schedule for What If…?, which wasn’t the same sort of animation, but is helpful in terms of understanding how Marvel Animation/Disney+ plans on releasing their shows. While there was a two year gap between Seasons 1 and 2, the second and third seasons of the show both debuted on a daily schedule in December, one year apart. That’s more typical for an overlapping animation production schedule.
Working against this idea is X-Men ’97, which had all of the animatics for Season 2 of the series done before Season 1 premiered — and so far, we haven’t had any word about when Season 2 of that show will hit the streaming service. While that series had some behind-the-scenes drama to deal with that might be holding it up, it’s also possible that Marvel Animation may be working slower than your typical animation shop. So given a normal schedule we would expect YFNSM Season 2 to hit early next year, it may be that we’ll get X-Men ’97 next year instead, followed by Spider-Man in 2027. Here’s hoping not, though!
