There’s a lot to unpack here, but the main headline is that Wreck-Gar, a Transformer with a mustache, arrives in Skybound’s Energon Universe with Void Rivals #19. But perhaps more important to me personally: somehow, Skuxxoid has returned.
Okay, let’s take a little step back here. Skybound has released its solicits for two Energon Universe titles hitting in May: Void Rivals #19, and G.I. Joe #7. In the latter, we’ll get to see the first appearance of Beach Head, and the return of Night Force in a standalone covert op mission written by Joshua Williamson, with art by Andrea Milana and letters by Rus Wooten.
Meanwhile, Void Rivals #19 is also a standalone story, but it’s one the fans (it’s me, I am fans) demanded: a Skuxxoid origin story that, per PR provided to Comic Book Club will “answer all of your burning questions and more!” And along for the ride is the first appearance of Wreck-Gar and the Junkions. This issue will be written by Robert Kirkman, art by Lorenzo De Felici, colors by Patricio Delpeche, and letters by Rus Wooten.
…So other than how Skuxxoid is alive after getting chopped in half in an earlier issue, my biggest question here that I hope is answered is: how does a Transformer have a mustache? Is it made of hair? Metal? Does it grow? What exactly is going on here?
Hopefully that will be answered when Void Rivals #19 hits stores on May 28. G.I. Joe #7 hits on May 21. You can check out covers for both, as well solicit info via PR from Skybound, below.
