Captain America: Brave New World is now in theaters, the first of three Marvel Studios features hitting this year. And while it’s always exciting to see a new MCU release on the big screen, it’s entirely possible with a lot going on, you may want to wait for streaming. So when will Captain America 4 be on Disney Plus?

Full disclosure at the top here, no streaming release date has been announced yet for the Anthony Mackie-starring movie. But we have some pretty solid educated guesses about when Cap 4 will be available to rent and own, as well as when it will hit Disney+, based on previous releases. We got the streaming release date right on the money for Deadpool & Wolverine (the last release) down to the day, so stick with this if you’re looking to mark your calendar.

That said, let’s get into those educated guesses for when Captain America 4 will hit PVOD (Premium Video on Demand), Disney+, and whether it will head to other streaming services like Netflix and Max.

When Will Captain America 4 aka Captain America: Brave New World Be Streaming? Here’s Our Educated Guess About The Cap 4 Streaming Release Date

Let’s start off with the digital release date for Brave New World. This is when it’ll be available for PVOD, aka $19.99 (or so, price TBA) to either rent or own the movie on services like Apple TV, Prime Video, Fandango at Home, etc.

The direct comparison points here are previous Marvel movies: both Deadpool & Wolverine and The Marvels were released on PVOD 67 days after their theatrical release. Of note, Deadpool & Wolverine was an enormous blockbuster; The Marvels not so much. So regardless of Cap 4‘s box office performance this weekend — so far, it’s doing just fine as of this writing — it’ll likely hit 67 days after it hit theaters.

Just to double check, though, since Deadpool & Wolverine came out way back in July, let’s take a look at two other movies released in the interim: Moana 2, and Mufasa: The Lion King. Moana 2 was released on November 27, 2024, and hit digital download on January 28, 2025. That’s actually 62 days, so a little shorter than that 67 day window. Meanwhile, Mufasa hit on December 20, 2024, and will hit PVOD on February 18, 2025. That’s 60 days, so an even shorter window.

Back to Captain America: Brave New World, the movie was officially released in theaters on February 14, 2025. 60 days after is April 15, 2025, a lovely way to celebrate Tax Day. However, if it goes the 67 day route, Cap 4 will hit PVOD on April 22, 2025.

My guess is the latter date (April 22) just because that’s what the previous Marvel releases have gone for. But regardless, you should be able to watch Captain America 4 at home by the end of April.

When Will Captain America 4 Be On Disney+?

First of all, yes, Captain America: Brave New World will be on Disney+. After the movie has its theatrical run, and hits PVOD, Disney+ is the first streaming platform it will head to for “free” (meaning with a Disney+ subscription). However, it’s a little tricky to predict exactly when it’ll hit Disney+ for a few reasons — mainly that the platform has a tendency to delay releases to time out for their streaming release schedule, versus a rigid release.

The best point we can throw out here is that usually a Disney release like Cap 4 will hit the platform 90 days after it hits theaters, or 30 days after it hits PVOD. For example, Elemental and The Marvels both hit Disney+ 89 days after they debuted in theaters.

That said? Wish hit Disney+ 133 days after the theatrical release, despite hitting PVOD 62 days later. And Deadpool & Wolverine, as noted above, hit right on that 60 days thing for PVOD… But came to Disney+ 110 days later. For D&W, the reason was to time out with Disney+ Day, aka the anniversary of the service’s debut on November 12. But still, we have a wide range of when Cap 4 could premiere.

If Disney goes the 90 days route, then Captain America 4 will debut on Disney+ on May 15, 2025 — or more likely, May 16, 2025, as movies usually hit the service on Wednesdays or Fridays.

Mildly complicating things, Thunderbolts* debuts in theaters on May 2, 2025. While there are two weeks between those two, they might want to give the movies more space, so it’s possible Cap 4 could be shunted down the schedule further, perhaps even to mid June. That way Thunderbolts* debuts theatrically in May, Cap 4 on Disney+ in June, and then Fantastic Four: First Steps theatrically in July. That makes more sense to me, but I don’t do scheduling for Disney.

So while May 16, 2025 is likely the Disney+ premiere date for Brave New World, don’t be surprised if it takes a little bit longer to hit the service.

Will Captain America 4 Be On Netflix? Will Brave New World Be On Max?

Like other Marvel release, Captain America: Brave New World will be a Disney+ exclusive for the foreseeable future. So no, it won’t head to Netflix, Max, Prime Video, or any other service — other than for PVOD (i.e., the $19.99 or so price point, eventually discounted to a $5.99 or so rental). Could that change? Sure. The world of streaming is in constant flux, and Max and Disney+ have a streaming bundle deal together. So there is a world where the movies start to jump services. But as of this writing, Cap 4 will be exclusive to Disney+. At some point.
