‘Invincible’ Voice Cast: Who’s Who In Season 3, Episode 4?

Invincible Season 3 Episode 4 dropkick and fightmaster

After a three episode premiere, Invincible is back to a one-a-week schedule with Season 3, Episode 4 “You Were My Hero.” And not only is the show back, but one of its funniest comedy bits is back, too. So who’s who in Episode 4?

Before we get to that (or scroll down if you’re impatient), a brief recap for the episode, to provide some context. And spoilers past this point. Things kick off with Rex Splode and Shrinking Rae going food shopping — though both of them have no idea (for the most part) what food is (“I almost got scurvy once,” notes Rex). That gets interrupted with a supervillain attack, leading to Rex wondering if they should all be more normal.

Over to Mark, he flies to the GDA headquarters — again — to beat up some Reanimen and accuse Cecil of the sphere probe that’s been watching his family. And no, it’s not Cecil watching him… At least not with that probe.

Then we jump to Paris to Mark and Eve’s first date in Paris, which gets interrupted by time travelers Dropkick and Fightmaster, who want Invincible to come with them forward in time. Against Mark’s will, they take him to the future and we find out (eventually) that Immortal ended up taking over the Earth after Mark left him in charge, but it was too much. He went insane, blew up 10 cities to try and get Mark’s attention, but it didn’t work. At least not with the Invincible of this version of Immortal’s time.

Ultimately, Invincible ends up killing Immortal, or at least ripping off his head and telling Dropkick and Fightmaster to keep his body parts separated. The power is transferred back to the people of Earth, and bummed out, Mark travels back to his date with Eve. She tells him that they’ll keep each other in check, and go on a big date montage, ending with them telling each other that they love each other, and go back to Mark’s place to have sex.

End of episode? Not quite. Bringing back the bit from the first time Amber and Mark had sex, the Narrator pops in to give them some privacy, and instead present “Allen The Alien in… Locked Down But Not Out.” The focus here is the burgeoning friendship between Allen and Nolan, which leads to a huge fight in the space station jail they’re being held in. Nolan is ready to die for betraying the Viltrumite Empire, but thanks to a team-up between Allen and Battle Beast, they break him free. The big reveal? Nobody is coming to attack them because there are less than 50 pure-blood Viltrumites left in the universe. Minus two, because Allen, Nolan, and Battle Beast just killed them.

And as a tag, we go back to post-coital Mark and Eve, as Debbie tries to get into Mark’s room — with the duo deciding they need to move into their own apartment.

Invincible Season 3, Episode 4 “You Were My Hero” Cast: Who’s Who In The Voice Cast?

Invincible Season 3 Episode 4 battle beast

We won’t reiterate the main cast, who we’ve covered before in previous breakdowns (so check those, for that). However, we can talk about who is new, or who is playing someone different!

Nolan’s two Viltrumite Executioners are played by voice acting royalty: Eric Bauza, and John DiMaggio. Bauza previously voiced D.A. Sinclair on this show (replacing Ezra Miller), but is probably best known for voicing various Looney Tunes characters including Bugs Bunny. DiMaggio previously voiced The Elephant on Invincible, but is probably best known for voicing everything from Jake the Dog on Adventure Time to Bender on Futurama.

Michael Dorn, aka Worf from Star Trek: The Next Generation, is back this episode as the voice of Battle Beast. And after appearing earlier in the season, Blue Beetle and Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña returns as Dropkick and Fightmaster, the twin heroes from the future.

Last but not least, Paul F. Tompkins returns as the voice of the Narrator, which he previously played in Season 2. Tompkins has had too many roles to count, but is best known for his appearances on Mr. Show, Comedy Bang! Bang!, and Mr. Peanutbutter on Bojack Horseman. He’s also providing the voice for Bentley Wittman over on Disney+’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, so big week for Tompkins! Maybe his best week ever! That’s a reference to how he used to appear on the VH1 show Best Week Ever, by the way.
