Dawn Brown, an Eisner Award nominated cartoonist who has also worked as set designer for Skeleton Crew and the concept artist for The Hunger Games, is moving from skeletons to ghosts, and bringing a brand new story to stores with Gracie’s Ghost.
The Image Comics graphic novel focuses on, per PR provided to Comic Book Club, “an eccentric kid navigating the perilous landscape of school and family life—with the help of her guardian ghost.”
Said Brown, “Gracie’s Ghost is sort of a fictionalized version of events that really happened to me, and I wrote this book for kids who haven’t always had the easy road. Whatever their challenge is, they are not alone.”
Targeted at middle schoolers, the book is divided into self-contained stories with different themes, ranging from sibling rivalry, to empathy, to bullying.
Gracie’s Ghost will hit comic book shops on September 10, and bookstores on September 23. You can pre-order it now at Bookshop.org.
