With less than a week to go until Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters, it’s game on as the first MCU movie of 2025 hit up the Super Bowl with an action-packed look at the flick… Via a Tide ad.
In fact, the short, but Red Hulk-filled look at the movie hit a few month back as part of a campaign involving “collateral stains” aka the stains people in the MCU deal with after a big superhero battle. In this one, a bunch of folks at a bus stop get covered in mud after Red Hulk blows up the cherry blossoms in DC, with one newbie wondering just how everyone gets their stains out.
While that’s nice for Tide and all, there’s a lot riding on the Valentine’s Day release. While last year took it easy on Marvel with only Deadpool & Wolverine released in theaters, this year we’ve got three films — Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. With feelings on the MCU from fans and critics still mixed, Cap 4 could start off the year on a high note, or it could begin a rocky road through 2025.
Still, having some presence for Captain America: Brave New World at the Super Bowl is a sign of confidence — or at least a sign of knowing your audience. Versus those other Marvel movies, there’s no more across the plate (to mix sports metaphors) film Marvel Studios has in their arsenal than the red (hulk), white and blue of Brave New World.
Here’s the official synopsis for the film, per Disney:
After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.
Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: Brave New World” stars Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Xosha Roquemore, with Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford.
The film is directed by Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore. Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Rob Edwards and Malcolm Spellman & Dalan Musson and Julius Onah & Peter Glanz with story by Rob Edwards and Malcolm Spellman & Dalan Musson.
Captain America: Brave New World is in theaters on February 14, 2025. Watch the Super Bowl Tide ad, below.
