The X-Men are sworn to protect a world that hates and fears them. But what about when the world is attacked by the King of the Monsters himself, Godzilla? That’s exactly what happens in Godzilla vs. X-Men from Marvel Comics.
Written by Fabian Nicieza with art by Emilio Laiso, the latest round in the fight between ‘zilla and the Marvel Universe hits this May. And following up on fights with the Hulk, Spider-Man, and Fantastic Four, this one jumps forward to the ’90s. That means you can expect Godzilla to be wearing flannel, and listening to a lot of grunge. Maybe not, though.
“If you’d asked ten-year-old Fabian what he’d do for the chance to write Godzilla, he would have breathed fire and burned anyone up for the job to an uncomfortable crisp,” said Nicieza via press release. “Combine Godzilla with a ‘vs.’ and an ‘X-Men,’ well, let’s just say I love the smell of burning writer in the morning. It smells like victory!”
Godzilla vs. X-Men will feature covers by Tony Daniel, Mike McKone, Taurin Clarke, Nick Bradshaw, Chris Campana, Iban Coello, Lee Garbett, and Paolo Rivera. Check out some of the covers below, as well as the synopsis, and click for larger versions. The issue hits stores on May 14.
