Marvel‘s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has finally swung onto Disney+. And the first episode of the new series, “Amazing Fantasy” has brought us a vision of the web-slinger that is both very familiar to fans of the classic comics and the MCU — while finding its own twists and turns. Given it’s a bit of a mish-mash, you might be wondering who’s who in the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 1, Episode 1 voice cast. Great news! That’s what this article is about.
Before we get to the cast list, though, a brief recap of the series premiere so you know what we’re talking about. And spoilers past this point. In the episode we start with a classic Peter Parker waking up montage. He’s late for school, Aunt May gives him oatmeal in a bag, Uncle Ben isn’t around anymore… It’s pretty much what we knew from the MCU, in particular. It’s his first day at Midtown High, and everything is as expected… Until Doctor Strange pops through a portal, battling not Venom, but “Symbiotic Alien” (thank you, weird Sony/Marvel rights).
The fight destroys the school, and Symbiotic Alien seems very focused on one student in particular: Nico Minoru. When it goes to attack her, the powerless Pete distracts it long enough for Strange to capture it. But as Strange takes it back to his own dimension, the portal cuts off a spider that’s been dangling out of it, and it lands on Peter and bites him.
He faints, and perhaps of note for later: the spider, still alive, crawls onto someone else’s backpack. Hmmm…
Months later, Peter has been Spider-Man for a while now, and we get a very different heading to school montage as he swings through the city. He also saves Harry Osborn from some livestreaming bullies. Now at Rockford High, we meet Pearl Pangan, Peter’s former babysitter and current crush. Nico teases him about it, but tells him to ask her out before she does.
In the middle of school, police pass by, and Peter excuses himself to stop an out-of-control van. Everyone cheers for him, and loves Spider-Man. Then we’re back at school where we discover Lonnie Lincoln has already asked out Pearl. Peter is bummed until he’s paired up with Lonnie on a lab project and discovers Lonnie isn’t just a football jock, he’s smart, funny, and kind. He also lives on 125 street, aka Harlem. On the way home Lonnie gets racist looks from a lady on the train, and cops in the neighborhood. His home life is nice and normal, though, and he’s helping his entire family keep things afloat.
Back to Spider-Man, he’s just captured a thief who stole money from a pizza place, and asks the pizza place owner to let her go: she made a mistake, and feels bad about it. He agrees, and gives him free pizza. Not only that, but Peter finds a DVD player in the trash on the way home… Where he discovers Aunt May talking to none other than Norman Osborn. Uhoh!
Recap out of the way, read on to find out more about the voice cast for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Episode 1!
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 1, Episode 1 “Amazing Fantasy” Cast: Who’s Who In The Voice Cast?

First up on the cast list is Hudson Thames, who made waves yesterday (January 28) in an interview where he, er, lauded the show for not being “woke.” Not sure if he watched the show or knows what the word “woke” means, but Thames is a 30-year-old actor and musician who previously voiced Spider-Man on What If…? He also had a recurring role on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, has appeared on I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, Ghosts, and Mad Men, and clearly needs to be gifted a copy of the dictionary.
Veteran voice actor Kari Wahlgren plays both May Parker and Mrs. Eberhardt in this episode. She’s been in dozens of things but you may know her for recently voicing Melina Vostokoff on What If…?, as well as Rose Gilberti on X-Men ’97, multiple voices on Invincible, and Martha Kent on My Adventures With Superman.
Grace Song, the voice of Nico Minoru, is a comedian and actor who has appeared in a number of projects including The Premise, Paper Marriage, and Adam Ruins Everything.
Next up is Eugene Byrd, the voice of Lonnie Lincoln. The actor has been in a wild array of projects, from five episodes of All American as Dr. Dameon Spears to voices on The Legend of Vox Machina. However, more to the point of this article, he previously voiced Jefferson Morales on 14 episodes of Spidey and His Amazing Friends.
Colman Domingo has only seen his star grow since he appeared on Fear the Walking Dead as Victor Strand, and now he’s the voice of Norman Osborn on this series. In the interim, the actor and playwright has appeared in The Color Purple, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and the current Oscar nominee Sing Sing.
Kellan Goff, who plays Symbiotic Alien, is probably best known as the voices of Funtime Freddy and Fredbear in the Five Nights At Freddy’s series. He’s had dozens of other roles, though, including voices in Wicked and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
If Doctor Strange didn’t sound like Benedict Cumberbatch? Well, it wasn’t. Robin Atkin Downes plays the voice on the series, and he’s been in more projects than you can count, from live-action roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer to voice acting on ThunderCats, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and more. Star Wars fans likely known him as the voice of Cham Syndulla on Clone Wars and The Bad Batch. He also holds the dubious honor of being the voice of Doomsday from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Cathy Ang, the voice of Pearl Pangan, is probably best known to animation fans for playing the role of Golden Glider on an episode of Harley Quinn (though she was replaced by Stephanie Hsu for Kite Man). She also plays Young Morgan Elsbeth on Star Wars: Tales Of the Empire, and in live-action is best known as Lily Goldenblatt on And Just Like That…
Erica Luttrell plays Emma and Mrs. Lincoln, and is likely best known as the voice of Sapphire on Steven Universe. Phil Lamarr plays Mr. Taylor and Mr. Lincoln, and has voiced everything from Samurai Jack to Green Lantern. And last but not least, Ogie Banks plays the Pizza Shop Owner, and previously voiced Luke Cage and Miles Morales in Ultimate Spider-Man.
