‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Easter Egg Sees Zach Cherry’s “Do A Flip” Guy Get To See Spidey Flip

Zach Cherry aka Do A Flip Guy in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Way back in Spider-Man: Homecoming, one of the funnier offhand moments in the movie is when Zach Cherry’s at-the-time unnamed character (later known as Klev) yells at Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and asks him to do a flip. Well, Klev, aka Do A Flip Guy is back in animated form in a blink-and-you-miss-it Easter egg in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. And great news, he gets to see Spidey do a flip.

The moment occurs in the season’s premiere episode, “Amazing Fantasy,” about halfway through. Peter (Hudson Thames) is already Spider-Man, and while at school sees a bunch of cop cars chasing after a runaway van. He leaves, and chases after it himself — ultimately stopping the vehicle.

But right at the top he swings into the city, hits the ground, and does a flip over an unnamed character that is almost definitely Klev:

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Do A Flip

Cherry isn’t credited, and sadly we don’t get to hear him say “do a flip,” it definitely looks like Cherry — and Spider-Man incongruously doing a flip over his head confirms it.

While Cherry is better known now as Dylan on Apple TV’s Severance, he previously appeared in a few bit roles in the MCU. First was Homecoming, with the aforementioned scene that led to him being nicknamed “Do A Flip Guy.” Though Cherry didn’t appear, the audio of him saying “do a flip” was later used in Spider-Man: No Way Home as a callback, which is pretty solid.

However, Klev got more screentime in Shang-Chi And The Legend of the Ten Rings, where he had not only moved from New York City to San Francisco, but also possibly been inspired by the YouTube-star Spider-Man to become a livestreamer, as well. He’s seen in the bus battle between Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) and Razor Fist (Florian Munteanu), live streaming and commenting on the fight. He doesn’t tell Shang-Chi to do a flip, but maybe that’s reserved for Spider-Man?

In any case, there you go! Fun Easter egg, and this universe’s version of Klev must be so excited now, because he got to see a flip and didn’t even have to ask for it.
