Marvel April 2025 Solicit Highlights:
Marvel’s April 2025 solicits are here, and there’s lots to discuss.
First up, Godzilla continues his attack on the Marvel universe with Godzilla vs. Hulk and Godzilla vs. Spider-Man. My money is on the Hulk, then Godzilla. And speaking of which, we’ll also see the debut of Predator Vs. Spider-Man, which means you can possibly watch Spider-Man die twice this month at the hands of movie monsters.
But you can’t keep a good Spider-Man down, and Amazing Spider-Man gets rebooted with a new number one from the team of Joe Kelly, Pepe Larraz and John Romita Jr. April’s two issues will reintroduce an old villain, and introduce Peter Parker’s childhood best friend.
Moving to a different part of New York City, Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell is the first of a long in development Old Man Daredevil series from Charles Soule and Steve McNiven, with the first of three oversized issues released in April.
One World Under Doom continues the nine month long event with the introduction of the Superior Avengers, villains masquerading as heroes, and in One World Under Doom #3 the villains masquerade as heroes to team up with the, er, heroes. Meanwhile, in Avengers #25 the Masters of Evil return, and they’re villains masquerading as villains. Much simpler.
How about those kooky X-Men? Uncanny X-Men #13 reveals a secret bit of mutant history. Storm #7 celebrates 50 years of the character by teaming her up with thunder gods from mythology. And X-Force #10 celebrates 300 issues of the title with a key appearance by a classified character. Not to be outdone, Wolverine #8 celebrates 400 issues of the title with a bonus story written and drawn by Daniel Warren Johnson as well as several key appearances. Step up your game, X-Force.
Over in the Ultimate Universe, Logan begins to question his identity in Ultimate Wolverine #4. The origin of Mysterio is revealed in Ultimate Spider-Man #16. And in Ultimates #11, the group tries to take down Loki.
Other highlights? Marvel Rivals debuts in comic book form. Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur celebrate 10 years by reuniting the original creative team and introducing Devil Girl and Moon Dinosaur. The identity of the All-New Venom is revealed in issue #5. And the Concert of Champions brings together Luna Snow, Dazzler, Spider-Gwen and Lila Cheney for a rock concert that includes a “top-secret debut that you won’t even realize is happening.”
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And I hope one of those key appearances is my car keys because I cannot find them anywhere.
