Dynamite is hitting the gas and racing forward with their line of comics adapting classic Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera properties with Giant-Size Wacky Races #1. The over-sized issue will be written by Ivan Cohen, with art by Mariano Benitez Chapo, and colors by Nick Caponi.

“After teaming a cartoon dog and his crime-solving pals with a brooding billionaire vigilante, the logical next step in my career was to update the classic Wacky Races for the 2020s, blending the original cartoon with elements of pro wrestling, action films, and a hint of Furiosa for good measure,” said writer Ivan Cohen via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “Editor Joe Rybandt gave me and artists Mariano Benitez Chapo and Nick Caponi the keys, and we’d really prefer not to give them back any time soon. I can’t wait for readers to see where we are taking Penelope Pitstop and the cast of the Wacky Races. To call it a wild ride is an understatement.”

In the 40-page book, Penelope Pitstop and Peter Perfect are racing the vile Dick Dastardly and his dog Muttley over the course of three stories. It adapts the classic Wacky Races cartoon, which ran over 17 episodes in 1968 and 1969.

Along with the stories, the book will feature covers by Joseph Michael Linsner, Edwin Galmon, and Robert Hack. The book will hit stores in April, but you can check out the covers and two interior pages, below. Click for larger versions.
