Skybound and Image Comics have revealed the lineup of variant covers for the Invincible Universe series Battle Beast #1. And things are about to get bloody.
Written by Robert Kirkman with art by Ryan Ottley, this marks a big return for the Invincible Universe, hot on the heels of the third season of the animated series on Prime Video. Debuting on April 23, the issue will feature a main cover by Ryan Ottley and colorist Annalisa Leoni, as well as variants by David Finch, E.J. Su, Kael Ngu, Arthur Adams, and Jonboy Meyers; plus a 1:1000 incentive CGC signed/graded foil version of the Ottley cover, a Battle Beast die cut mask foil cover by Ottley and Leoni, and a 1:2000 variant Ottley Original Art Sketch Cover.
In case you don’t speak variant cover: yes, that means for every 2000 copies a shop orders, they get one original art sketch cover by Ottley. Worth it?
Plus, as previously announced the issue will have a bonkers blind bag program that includes any of the covers from A through I (see below). Plus some are, per PR from Skybound, “rare SURPRISE comics related to Battle Beast or the Invincible Universe that can be found in these blind bags. Those SURPRISE comics will not be publicly announced in advance of the issue release.”
