The Absolute And Ultimate Universes Dominated The December 2024 Single Issue Sales Charts:
DC’s Absolute Universe and Marvel’s Ultimate Universe dominated the December single issue sales charts, ending 2024 on a strong note.
Per ICv2, the top-selling comic of December was Absolute Batman #3, with Absolute Superman #2 not far behind. Rounding out the top 5 were Ultimate Universe: One Year In, Ultimate Spider-Man #12, and Absolute Wonder Woman #3.
And beyond dominating the sales chart for the third month in a row, DC captured 21 of the Top 50 slots on the list, the first time that’s happened in well over a year. Marvel still nabbed 26 slots, but this is a great showing for DC since the beginning of the Absolute Universe, and the DC All In initiative.
However, what that didn’t really leave room for is any other publishers. Image and Skybound hit #14 with the latest issue of Transformers, and #23 with G.I. Joe #2. And IDW’s latest issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hit #30. But that was it. With the Big Two once again ruling comic book shops, will there be room for a big third? This year is just getting started, so stay tuned.
New Collected Webtoon Volumes Are Coming From Ten Speed Graphic:
Ten Speed Graphic has revealed its upcoming slate of graphic novels for Spring, including a number of collected editions for Webtoon hits.
Per The Beat, the lineup will include romantasy hit Suitor Armor volume 2 by Purpah, which will hit stores on May 20; Wendy Martin’s Castle Swimmer, volume 2, about an underwater romance, will hit on June 3; and Nothing Special volume 3 by Katie Cook, which is a fantasy book, with just a little romance, will hit on June 24. Meanwhile, Muted, by Miranda Mundt, will get its first printed collection, shining the spotlight on a bunch of witches and some romance. That will hit stores on July 8.
All these books are also available to read now on Webtoon.
Folio Society Marvel Hardcovers On Sale:
The Folio Society’s collection of high-end Marvel hardcovers are on sale, for a limited time.
Per Polygon, the normally $280 volumes are available now until January 12 for a still considerable $140. Each of the volumes features north of 250 pages of vintage comics from the Bronze, Silver, and Golden age, picked and introduced by Roy Thomas, as well as a box case, a facsimile comic, and a print from the book.
If that’s a little rich for your blood, you can also get character-specific volumes, also hand-picked by Thomas, normally for $100 and now available for $50. The characters available include Thor, Hulk, Captain America, and Doctor Strange.
You can snag them all now — at least for the next few days — at the Folio Society’s website.
