While 2025 is relatively light for comic book movies, the year is veritably packed with comic book based TV shows. Things begin in January with Harley Quinn Season 5, and they don’t slow down until the end of the year. And we’re breaking it all down on our 2025 comic book TV preview.
This includes multiple Marvel TV shows, despite the fact that the Disney brass have said they’ll only be releasing two a year… We count at least three live-action series, and at least four animated series, maybe more. From DC we’re getting Peacemaker Season 2, which is now part of James Gunn’s DCU, two Walking Dead series, and we might even get a live-action Spider-Man series for the first time in decades.
Looking for a complete rundown of what we know so far — with more likely to be confirmed later on? Read on.

Harley Quinn, Season 5
Release Date: January 16, 2025
Streaming On: Max
What’s It About? This season Harley and the gang move to Metropolis as Bane gets a job at the Daily Planet, and Brainiac steps up his game (as teased in the finale of Kite Man: Hell Yeah!).
Who’s Involved? The main cast is all back, with Kaley Cuoco as Harley Quinn, Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, Alan Tudyk as Clayface and The Joker, and Run Funches as King Shark. More importantly, James Adomian is back as Bane. Aisha Tyler joins the cast as Lena Luthor, and Stephen Fry is the voice of Brainiac.
Why We’re Hyped: While Season 4 was a step down from previous seasons of the series, it’s still a very fun and faithful look at DC Comics history. And Harley and Ivy continue to be the best couple on TV. Also: more Bane. The season will run 10 episodes, and conclude on March 20, 2025.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Release Date: January 29, 2025
Streaming On: Disney+
What’s It About? A brand new take on Peter Parker and his amazing friends, this finds a high-school-aged Spider-Man getting powers, then signing up with Norman Osborn as a mentor.
Who’s Involved? Hudson Thames plays Peter Parker after portraying the character on What If…? Colman Domingo is Norman Osborn. Grace Song is Nico Minoru, and Charlie Cox shows up as Daredevil.
Why We’re Hyped: Weirdly not an MCU show (or at least, a different part of the multiverse). But the animation style looks reminiscent of classic Steve Ditko designs, and I’m certainly curious about this vastly different take on Spider-Man. Plus, Marvel has enough faith that they’re already working on a second season. Exact episode count is TBA.
Invincible, Season 3
Release Date: February 6, 2025
Streaming On: Amazon’s Prime Video
What’s It About? Invincible is back on Earth after the events of Season 2, and teaming up with the Guardians of Globe — before realizing their handler Cecil may be a bigger threat than he imagined.
Who’s Involved? The full cast and crew from the first two seasons are back including Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson/Invincible, J.K. Simmons as Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man, and Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson.
Why We’re Hyped: Not only has Invincible been consistently excellent and already picked up for Season 4, but this season will be streamed without a break. The first three episodes will premier in February, then one a week until the finale on March 13 (eight episodes total).
Daredevil: Born Again
Release Date: March 4, 2025
Streaming On: Disney+
What’s It About? After various stops and starts, we’re getting a true sequel to the Netflix series, with pretty much all of the main cast returning. This time, Wilson Fisk is running for Mayor of New York, and in the mix are villains like Muse — and the returning Bullseye. Plus The Punisher is back, but is he friend? Or foe?
Who’s Involved? Charlie Cox is back as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, and Vincent D’Onofrio is also back s Wilson Fisk / The Kingpin. Deborah Ann Woll returns as Karen Page, Elden Henson is back as Foggy Nelson, and Jon Bernthal is back as Frank Castle / The Punisher.
Why We’re Hyped: If you liked Daredevil on Netflix? Great news, this is more of that – now officially set in the MCU.
The Walking Dead: Dead City, Season 2
Release Date: Spring, 2025
Streaming On: AMC+ (and airing on AMC)
What’s It About? Negan and Maggie have fun adventures in New York City! Yay!
Who’s Involved? Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan return as Negan and Maggie, with the rest of the Season 1 cast (whoever survived) in tow.
Why We’re Hyped: The Walking Dead miniseries on AMC and AMC+ have been consistently solid, and this season finds Negan wrestling with getting his barb-wire bat and leather jacket back, while Maggie has to deal with a teen son who may be working for the bad guys.
Ironheart
Release Date: June 24, 2025
Streaming On: Disney+
What’s It About? After the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Riri Williams tries to build an armor of her own. Standing in her way? The demonically powered criminal known as The Hood.
Who’s Involved? Dominique Thorne returns as Riri Williams, while Anthony Ramos takes on the role of Parker Robbins, aka The Hood. Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, and Cree Summer also star. Jim Rash returns to his role as the Dean of MIT, and Sacha Baron Cohen has been cast in a secret role heavily rumored to be Mephisto.
Why We’re Hyped: Thorne is great as Riri, The Hood is a great villain… But this show was announced in 2020, and filmed back in 2022. We’re rooting for it, but worried that sitting on the shelf for a while means not-so-good things.
Iron Man And His Awesome Friends
Release Date: Summer, 2025
Streaming On: Disney Jr./Disney+
What’s It About? Like Spidey and his Amazing Friends, this is a pre-school series, but with Iron Man, Riri Williams and Amadeus Cho (in Hulk armor).
Who’s Involved? A lot of the folks behind Spidey and His Amazing Friends.
Why We’re Hyped: I don’t know if we’re hyped specifically, but it’s great that these pre-school shows are working so well.
Peacemaker, Season 2
Release Date: August, 2025
Streaming On: Max
What’s It About? Do you really wanna taste a second season of the Max hit? Peacemaker returns for more violent adventures, this time in the DCU instead of the DCEU.
Who’s Involved? John Cena returns as Peacemaker, as does most of the surviving cast from Season 1. That includes Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and somehow Robert Patrick (despite his character dying in Season 1). Frank Grillo also joins the cast, playing Rick Flag Sr. from Creature Commandos.
Why We’re Hyped: Peacemaker Season 1 was a blast, and it’ll be interesting to see how they continue the adventures, but ignore the Justice League appearance in the finale (since that’s no longer DCU canon).
Eyes of Wakanda
Release Date: August 6, 2025
Streaming On: Disney+
What’s It About? The series focuses on the Hatut Zaraze, a team of Wakandans tasked with retrieving lost Vibranium in various time periods throughout history (they don’t time travel, the show jumps time periods).
Who’s Involved? Ryan Coogler developed the show, which is written and directed by Todd Harris. Voice actors for the animated series include Cress Williams, Anika Noni Rose, Winnie Harlow and more.
Why We’re Hyped: Coogler is two for two with his Wakanda stories so far. This has an intriguing premise, and will introduce a new Iron Fist, amping up the hype levels a bit.
Marvel Zombies
Release Date: October, 2025
Streaming On: Disney+
What’s It About? Spinning out of that one episode of What If…? the surviving heroes (and villains) try to stay alive in a world overrun by superpowered zombies.
Who’s Involved? As with What If…? a slew of MCU actors reprise their roles, including Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, and Iman Vellani.
Why We’re Hyped: Bummed What If…? is done? Now you’ve got four more episodes to enjoy! Should be a fun Halloween treat, fingers crossed.
Wonder Man
Release Date: December, 2025
Streaming On: Disney+
What’s It About? The meta concept is that Simon Williams, a superpowered stunt actor, is auditioning to play Wonder Man in a new TV series. His acting coach? Trevor Slattery, who previously was hired to play The Mandarin in Iron Man 3, and escaped from prison in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Who’s Involved? Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Simon Williams, Ben Kingsley returns as Trevor Slattery, Demetrius Grosse plays Eric Williams aka the Grim Reaper, and Ed Harris is Simon’s agent. Daniel Destin Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi, developed the show with Andrew Guest, who is showrunner.
Why We’re Hyped: Honestly everything about this sounds great. Hollywood satire is hard to make biting, so we’ll see how this does. But good cast, good creators, solid concept — and under the Marvel Spotlight banner, so it doesn’t have to connect to anything else.
The Sandman, Season 2
Release Date: TBA
Streaming On: Netflix
What’s It About? Morpheus and his kooky siblings have some more fun in the human and dream worlds.
Who’s Involved? Tom Sturridge returns as Morpheus, and the rest of the main cast is expected to return as well. That includes Kirby, Gwendoline Christie, Jenna Coleman, and many, many more.
Why We’re Hyped: …Are we hyped, though? While the first season was solid and the spinoff episodes were great, in between seasons there have been multiple allegations of sexual misconduct reported about Sandman creator Neil Gaiman. Filming wrapped before these allegations emerged, but the writer was noticeably absent from a behind-the-scenes hype reel posted by Netflix in September. TBD what Netflix says about this publicly (if at all), but it’s definitely marred the release of what could be a big 2025 release.
Gen V, Season 2
Release Date: TBA
Streaming On: Amazon’s Prime Video
What’s It About? The spinoff of The Boys continues into Sophomore year at Godolkin, with the cast divided between those who went bad, and those who stayed good. For now.
Who’s Involved? Most of the main cast is returning including Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, and Asa Germann. Hamish Linklater joins as the new Dean, named Cipher. However, not returning is Chance Perdomo, who sadly was killed in a motorcycle accident earlier this year.
Why We’re Hyped: Gen V Season 1 was pretty great, and season 2 has the chance to mix things up in an even bigger and wilder way. However, Perdomo’s real death — which they will deal with in the episodes — is hanging over the season, as well, and will likely overshadow any juicy plot developments in The Boys universe.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Season 3
Release Date: TBA
Streaming On: AMC+ (and airing on AMC)
What’s It About? Daryl and Carol were last seen heading to London through the Chunnel. But in Season 3, they’ll somehow end up in zombie-ridden Spain. Wrong way, guys!
Who’s Involved? Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride return as Daryl and Carol. Stephen Merchant also joins the cast, as do an array of Spanish actors.
Why We’re Hyped: Season 2 of Daryl Dixon was even better than Season 1. Let’s keep this party going!
Revival
Release Date: TBA
Airing On: SYFY
What’s It About? On January 1, people died as normal in the town of Wausau, Wisconsin. On January 2, they all came back to life.
Who’s Involved? Based on the comic book series by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, the show stars Melanie Scrofano, Romy Weltman, David James Elliott, Andy McQueen, Steven Ogg, and CM Punk.
Why We’re Hyped: Revival is a great comic book series, and a perfect pitch for a TV show. Add in a good cast, and it’ll be exciting to see what SYFY does with this one.
Resident Alien, Season 4
Release Date: TBA
Airing On: USA Network
What’s It About? Harry Vanderspeigle, an alien masquerading as a human, solves mysteries and occasionally causes them in a small Colorado town.
Who’s Involved? Alan Tudyk returns as Harry, and the rest of the main cast returns as well.
Why We’re Hyped: I don’t know if this counts as hype, but Season 4 moves from SYFY to the USA Network, for an as yet unannounced premiere date. USA! USA!
Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur, Season 2B
Release Date: TBA
Streaming On: Disney+
What’s It About? The titular characters team up to stop crime and dance to a lot of songs in this innovative and award nominated animated series that was canceled by Disney, but still has 10 episodes left to broadcast.
Who’s Involved? Diamond White and Fred Tatasciore are Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
Why We’re Hyped: This is definitely a shot in the dark, but here’s hoping Disney doesn’t have 10 episodes of this excellent series sitting on a shelf forever. Drop ’em online. Put ’em on Disney+. The show was nominated for five frickin’ Emmys this year, come on.
The Beauty
Release Date: TBD
Streaming On: FX/Hulu
What’s It About? a communicable STD called The Beauty makes people look the best they possibly can be. Only side effect? Seems like some people with The Beauty may be spontaneously combusting. But is it a side effect? Or something nastier and more complicated?
Who’s Involved? Created by Jason A. Hurley and Jeremy Haun, the TV show version comes from Ryan Murphy, and stars Rebecca Hall, Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, Ashton Kutcher, and Jeremy Pope.
Why We’re Hyped: We don’t know for sure this will come out in 2025, but The Beauty is another excellent comic primed for a TV adaptation. Great cast, and as a bonus you can see how Ryan Murphy’s eyes popped out of his head and his tongue rolled out of his mouth like a cartoon wolf as soon as he heard the premise.
Spider-Noir
Release Date: TBD
Streaming On: MGM+ (followed by Prime Video)
What’s It About? Based on the comics, as well as the appearance in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this 1930s noir style Spider-Man investigates mysteries, probably.
Who’s Involved? Nicolas Cage stars as a live-action Spider-Man Noir, albeit a different one than in the animated movie. Also in the cast are Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, and Jack Huston.
Why We’re Hyped: Yes, this is a Sony production and not MCU Spider-Man. But Phil Lord and Chris Miller (two of the guys behind Spider-Verse) are involved. And Nicolas Cage always makes interesting choices. Will this work on TV? Maybe! It will debut on MGM+, before hitting Prime Video.
Criminal
Release Date: TBD
Streaming On: Prime Video
What’s It About? Based on the comics from Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, a series of interconnected criminals do crime things.
Who’s Involved? Brubaker and Jordan Harper are showrunners. The show stars Charlie Hunnam, Richard Jenkins, Adria Arjona, Emilia Clarke and more.
Why We’re Hyped: Criminal is one of the best comic books of all time. Will it work without Sean Phillips’s iconic art? We shall see. This doesn’t have a release date, but will hit Prime Video when it does stream.
