After 26 episodes of multiversal madness, What If…? wrapped up its run on Disney+ with “What If… What If?” And as opposed to previous guest star-heavy episodes, this one kept it focused on the core cast we’ve already met. Still, you may have some questions about who’s who in the What If…? Season 3, Episode 8 voice cast, aka the series finale. We’ve got you covered, below.
But first, a brief recap and spoilers past this point. We actually begin way back in time with a younger Watcher talking to The Eminence, who is recruiting him for their order. Despite his reservations, The Eminence says he’s the perfect recruit and tells him, “What if is an irrelevant question.”
Back in the present, we’re seeing the repercussions of that, as The Watcher tries to explain why he’s intervening, writing it off as one or two times. The other Watchers explain that it wasn’t a one or two off; he saved Reed Richards, Nick Fury, and “some girl named Madisynn,” at which point they bring in Captain Carter… And they’re both going to die.
That’s when Infinity Ultron attacks and the rest of the Exiles team crashes into the Observational Plane. They escape with the Watcher and Peggy into the seams of the multiverse, as The Watchers take out Infinity Ultron. Their plan? Head to Stephen Strange’s universe, the one he created in the Season 2 finale out of his own essence, and hope he’s cognizant enough to save them.
They don’t make it though as the Watchers knock them into a different multiverse. What follows is a heated battle, and as the Exiles are about to be pulverized The Watcher has them take The Watcher’s oath, turning them into Watchers. The other Watchers (this is confusing, right?) suit up for battle, and say how dare he do this, he’s no one. “I an not no one,” The Watcher says. “I am Uatu.” Everyone thinks this is a very cool name because they’ve been reading Marvel Comics since they were a kid.
Anyway, they all fight again now that they’re all Watchers, and the four Exiles blast the three evil Watchers into submission. Uatu stops his team and shows them mercy, but the three become a combined being and tell them to “behold your end.” They proceed to erase every multiversal possibility out of the team until Captain Cater uses her strength of will to suck her possibilities back into herself and blow up the Bad Watchers, seemingly giving her life in the process.
It’s not enough, though… The Eminence is still alive and going to destroy them. Except… He has no power. They’re in the Stephen Strange universe, which was Peggy’s real plan the whole time, and there Strange is supreme. Uatu tells The Eminence he’s going to teach him now, and the two of them look at the Earth from the Moon.
Peggy’s shield reforms, and flies off, so perhaps she’s not so gone after all. And in the closing moments, Uatu, Kahhori, Byrdie, and Storm look at the Observational Plane and see all the possibilities of cool mashup superheroes you could get if there were more seasons of What If…? But there aren’t! The end!

Jeffrey Wright is Uatu, The Watcher, and the trio of Bad Watchers are The Eminence, played by Jason Isaacs, The Incarnate, played by DC Douglas, and The Executioner, played by Darin De Paul.
On the Exiles team is Captain Carter, played by Hayley Atwell, Kahhori, played by Devery Jacobs, Byrdie The Duck, played by Natasha Lyonne, and Storm, played by the iconic Alison Sealy-Smith.
The only other main character voice on the episode is Ross Marquand, who voices Infinity Ultron and has taken over the role since Age of Ultron.
