Chris Ryall and Nelson Dániel are ready to haunt your nightmares with the Dreamweaver Giant-Syz Special, coming next year from Image Comics and Syzygy Publishing. The dark fantasy one-shot will hit stores next year.
“Dreamweaver is also about generational angst, knowing when to step aside and allow the next generation to take over, and knowing when and how to relinquish control,” said Ryall via press release. “And what happens when you ignore all of those things and try to once again become the hero of your own story, without realizing along the way that you’ve become the villain.”
In the book, a magic-based Dreamweaver realizes he needs to pass his power on to someone younger. And when he does choose someone, it wrecks both of their lives. Per PR, the book will be an “extra-length exploration of heroism and birthright, and the ways that magic can make lives better and worse, sometimes at the same time.”
“I’ve worked with Nelson for years and every time I think I know what he can do and how good he is, he surprises me yet again with his inventiveness, his beautifully expressive art, and his unique and gorgeous colors,” Ryall continued. “Dreamweaver is a series that explores, among other things, different forms of magic and its effect on the user, and Nelson is the perfect person to bring those kinds of elements to visual life.”
