Spider-Verse Vs Venomverse Event Gets Two Lead-In One-Shots:
The Spider-Verse is about to collide with the Venomverse in an epic event that could only be called Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse! But not yet. First, there will be two lead-in titles: Web of Spider-Verse: New Blood #1; and Web of Venomverse: Fresh Brains #1. And yes, we’re all equally mad that one of them has a hyphen and the other does not.
In the Spider-Verse one-shot, fans will meet Count Parker, Spider-Prowler, and Spider-Hulk, from Mat Groom, Luciano Vecchio, Jordan Morris, Greg Pak, Sumit Kumar, Alan Robinson, and Chris Eliopoulos.
Then in the Venomverse one-shot, the web turns to Venomouse, the disorderly Katie Power, and a whole new Eddie Brock. Those stories are by Groom, Vecchio, Erica Schultz, Chris Allen, Dylan Burnett, Juan José Ryp, Chris Eliopoulos, and, in his Marvel Comics debut, actor David Dastmalchian.
The Spider-Verse one-shot hits on March 5, with the Venomverse one following on April 2, 2025.
Valiant Beyond Reboots The Universe:
First there was Ultimate. Then Absolute. And now it’s time to go Beyond with Valiant Beyond, a new-reader friendly reboot of the Valiant Universe, spinning out of the end of the Resurgence event.
Beginning in March, Valiant Beyond will present new versions of the iconic Valiant characters, designed to be, per PR from Alien Books, “ultra-accessible.” The line will kick off with Bloodshot #1 and Tales of the Shadowman #1 in March, followed by X-O Manowar #1 and All-New Harbinger #1 in April.
Beyond presenting new jumping on points, the line will also have “introductory-priced debut issues, extra story pages, and new logos and trade dress on the covers that help distinguish the line from what came before.”
Like DC’s new universe, the old Valiant Universe won’t be going away, and will run alongside these new titles. The publisher expects Valiant Beyond to run 12 issues, and then if successful will continue beyond — sorry about the pun — that point.
Dan Panosian Takes On Peter Pan For The Last Boy:
Dan Panosian went down the rabbit hole with Alice Ever After, and its sequel. And now he’s headed to another classic tale with The Last Boy, a new take on Peter Pan that hits in Spring from BOOM! Studios.
The Last Boy takes place years after the original book by J.M. Barrie, as Peter Pan clings to childhood, and Wendy yearns for it. Per PR, “As their desires create a mirror of fantasy and reality, a disastrous encounter with the aging Captain Hook becomes the catalyst for Peter’s realization that Neverland is growing up without him.”
The new series hits stores on March 19, 2025.
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. It was Venomverse that’s missing the hyphen, by the way. I know that was bugging you.
