Absolute Batman #6 is coming in March, and it’s bringing the first arc of the hit DC Comics series — titled “The Zoo” — to a close. And along for the ride? A cover by the legendary Frank Quitely.
Written by Scott Snyder, with art by Nick Dragotta and Frank Martin, the conclusion of the arc will find AbsoBruce at a crossroads as he faces down villain Black Mask and his Party Animals.
Per PR from DC Comics, “Throughout the debut arc of this ongoing series, readers have seen how Bruce Wayne has based his entire life on ‘leveling up,’ becoming a bigger man than the obstacles in his way and the enemies he’s faced. He’ll need all that strength, skill, and guts if he’s going to bring down Black Mask and his gang of Party Animals without the help of Alfred Pennyworth, his unlikely new MI6 ally. And it remains to be seen what roles Bruce’s childhood friends—including Selina Kyle, Edward Nygma, Waylon Jones, Harvey Dent, and Oswald Cobblepot, among others—will play in Batman’s legacy as Gotham’s protector.”
DC also teases that beyond Absolute Batman #6, “Future issues will introduce new heroes, new foes, and an all-new story arc for the ‘Absolute’ version of DC’s Dark Knight.” Given the tease of the revamped Joker at the end of issue #1, it’s likely he’ll show up at some point — but will it be before issue #6? Or is that being saved for the second arc?
Regardless, who cares about the content of the book, when you can judge it by the covers? And issue #6 is a doozy, with an array of pieces by Dragotta, Quitely, Simon Bisley, John McCrea, and Alex Maleev. The issue is available for preorder starting Friday, December 20, 2024, and will hit stores on March 12, 2025. Check out the covers below, and click for larger versions.
