Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur has been nominated for five Emmys at the 3rd Annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, as revealed by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) earlier today.

“This year’s nominations are particularly meaningful as much of the work being honored was delayed due to last year’s strikes,” said Rachel Schwartz, Head of the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “It is a privilege to have been named Head of a competition that is not only honoring exceptional talent but is also shaping the way children and their families interact with the world. Congratulations to all.”

The categories Moon Girl has been nominated in include: Children’s Or Young Teen Animated Series, where it will compete against CURSES!, Hilda, Iwájú, Kiff, and Summer Camp Island; Writing for a Children’s Or Young Teen Animated Series for the episode “Dancing With Myself”; Directing for an Animated Series for “The Molecular Level”; Voice Directing for an Animated Series; and Editing for an Animated Program.

These multiple nominations come hot on the heels of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur getting canceled by Disney… And a controversy over one of the unaired episodes, which animators stated was being censored by Disney do to including a story of a trans friend of Moon Girl’s. Whether the noms will help reverse Disney’s decision in any way, or help release the 10, unaired episodes? Well, it’s not likely, but fingers crossed.

Another Marvel project, I Am Groot, snagged two nominations, for Short Form Animated Program and Sound Mixing And Sound Editing for an Animated Program.
