Creature Commandos Cast: Who’s Who In Episode 3, From Sgt. Rock To Will Magnus?

Creature Commandos GI Robot

This week’s episode of Creature Commandos, titled “Cheers To The Tim Man,” brought on a slew of classic DC Comics characters, as well as a few James Gunn favorites. So with that in mind, you might be wondering who’s who in the Creature Commandos Episode 3 voice cast?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you! But first, a bit of recap for context on what went down in Episode 3 — and spoilers past this point. While things pick up at last week’s cliffhanger with the team headed to Castle Frankenstein to save The Bride and Nina Mazursky, the real draw is the flashback to G.I. Robot’s full history, leading up to where we met him in the premiere. Turns out back in World War II he was a member of Easy Company, an infantry unit straight out of DC Comics, led by classic comic book character Sgt. Rock. And G.I. Robot is in his heyday, doing what he does best: killing Nazis.

But back stateside, things are a little tougher for him. We see G.I. go on a talk show, and awkwardly discussing his Nazi-killing activities, while a scientist, Will Magnus, watches from the sidelines. Magnus ends up studying G.I. Robot for his own reasons — in the comics, he creates the characters The Metal Men, so that’s almost definitely what this is teasing. After Magnus, G.I. is essentially shut down, and sold to army collector after army collector. That is until he’s bought by seeming nice guy Sam Fitzgibbon.

Sam is not a nice guy. He’s part of a group of white nationalists, and as soon as G.I. Robot figures that out, he kills them all — 33 in total — which is why he was arrested and sent to Belle Reeve.

Meanwhile, in the present the Commandos discover The Bride chained up, and Nina left in a barb-wire covered bathtub. Turns out Circe and the Sons of Themyscira left them there to distract the team while they attack Princess Ilana and her castle. And while it initially looks like they’re going to win, G.I. Robot turns the tables once Rick Flag Sr. tells him that yes, the SofT Boys are Nazis. He kills them all (or, most of them), and then explodes, dying in Nina’s arms.

After Weasel saves Ilana, he attacks Circe, Dr. Phosphorus barbecues her face, and the team wins… Except maybe not. “You don’t understand what you’ve done,” Circe says. “You’ve doomed the world!” Uhoh.

Creature Commandos Season 1, Episode 3 “Cheers To The Tin Man” Cast: Who’s Who In The Cast?

Creature Commandos Sgt Rock and Easy Company

We’re not going to recap the main, recurring cast here — you can check out previous cast breakdowns for that. But let’s talk about the guest stars, because there are a lot.

First up, Alan Tudyk pulls triple duty this episode. Alongside Dr. Phosphorus, he plays Surfer Son (one of the Sons of Themyscira), as well as Will Magnus. As mentioned above, Magnus creates the Metal Men in the comics, and it’ll be interesting to see whether this pays off later in Creature Commandos… Or perhaps as Tudyk’s mysterious live-action role in 2025’s Superman.

If the voice of the German Oberst — aka the commander of the Nazi forces in the beginning flashback — sounds familiar, that’s because it was Flula Borg. You might know him best from his roles in Pitch Perfect 2 and the highly underrated spinoff series Bumper in Berlin. But more to the point, he also played Javelin in The Suicide Squad, one of the initial squad that died at the beginning of the movie.

James Gunn had to bring his lucky charm with him, so of course Michael Rooker pops up this episode as the voice of Sam Fitzgibbon, the white supremacist who purchases G.I. Robot. Rooker was Yondu in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and Merle Dixon in The Walking Dead. In The Suicide Squad, he played Savant, who also died at the beginning.

Let’s jump ahead to Easy Company — or more specifically, Sgt. Rock. While reports have been out there that Daniel Craig may play the DC Comics character in a movie directed by Luca Guadagnino, this is not Craig. It’s actor Maury Sterling, who is likely best known for playing Max Piotrowski on Homeland. Though he’s had dozens of other roles, you nerds likely know him best as the voice of Tommy Elliot in the animated Batman: Hush.

Robbie Daymond does the voice of Little Sure Shot, as well as Stage Manager, and you almost definitely have heard his voice… He was Spider-Man in 2017’s animated Spider-Man series, and Dorian Storm in Critical Role and spinoffs.

Keith Ferguson, who played Bloo on Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, and has taken over for Will Ferrel in the Megamind franchise, plays Amethyst Knight and Host.

Piotr Michael, who is best known as Yoda in many Star Wars animated properties including Young Jedi Adventures, plays Exuberant Host, Prosecuting Attorney, and Son of Themyscira I.

Derek Phillips, who plays Billy and Justin, is best known as Billy Riggins from Friday Night Lights. However, since then he’s become a prolific voice actor in everything from The Last of Us Part I, to Fallout 4.

Paul Ben-Victor, who played Spiros “Vondas” Vondopoulos on The Wire, appears as Bulldozer, General King, and Large Son.

And Joe Zieja is Doofus Son and Jury Foreman, and recently did several voices on Netflix’s Arcane.
