This is an all-spoilers edition of Comic Book Club News for December 11, 2024.

Storm Gets A New Romance, With Wolverine:

In Storm #3 from Marvel Comics, Storm gets a new romance – and it’s been a long time coming. Spoilers past this point!

In the issue by Murewa Ayodele and Lucas Werneck, Storm is forbidden to use her powers for seven days thanks to a spell we won’t get into here. So she hangs out with the X-Men in Louisiana, and blows off steam by doing some hand-to-hand combat with Wolverine. One thing leads to another, and the two become the beast with two backs. No, not Hank McCoy. You know. They have sex.

Anyway, the next morning Storm has to sneak out to go meet Doctor Doom, but this is a romance that has been teased through comics and movies for decades at this point. While it’s unknown at this time whether it will continue, or what her ex-husband Black Panther will think about this. But romance fans? Your ship has come in.

Superwoman Special Reveals The Return Of Zod:

Superwoman Special #1 is on stands now, and while most of the issue reveals how Lois Lane got Superman powers, there are some surprising teases for the future. Spoilers past this point!

In the issue, we discover that from wearing a suit of armor stolen from Lex Luthor, Lois got her powers when everything was switched around at the end of the Absolute Power event. But the end of the issue reveals that the armor was built for a mysterious purpose — and that Lois got her powers not from Superman, or anyone on the Superman family… But from General Zod.

Given the main Superman title has already teased that Clark will lose an eye fighting Zod, it seems like some bad things are coming for the whole gang! Let’s see Lois write her way out of this one!

Infinity Watch Kills Colleen Wing In First Issue:

Infinity Watch is a new title from Marvel mixing together the human (mostly) bearers of the Infinity Stones. And in the first issue, one of them dies. Spoilers past this point.

In the issue we meet a man who claims to be an Infinity Stone bearer from another universe, and needs the new team’s help to keep away a group aiming to consume the Infinity Stones. When they won’t help him out, he reveals that he’s already helped himself to one of them: the Infinity Stone inside Colleen Wing, which he has viciously already ripped out of her body, seemingly killing her.

I say seemingly because of there are, of course, a ton of ways out of this one. There’s the time stone, which allows time travel. There’s the mind stone, which this new villain says he’s used to trick them, so what about a double trick? And also, Phil Coulson is now the avatar of Death.

Point being, it’s a shock ending that could be quickly reversed in the next issue. Or maybe not! If so, RIP, Colleen Wing.
