DC Studios Announces Official Podcast, DC Studios Showcase, Despite The Fact That We Already Host A DC Studios Podcast

In a confusing announcement given that Comic Book Club already hosts an unofficial DC Studios podcast called Sons of a Gunn, which seems to have the whole thing covered, DC and DC Studios have announced DC Studios Showcase: The Official Podcast, which will launch on December 6.

The new unscripted video podcast series will be hosted by Frankey Smith and Tyler Coates, along with on-air comic correspondent Coy Jandreau, and run biweekly. Meaning every two weeks, not twice a week. Just to clarify.

In the series, per PR provided to Comic Book Club as a way of really digging the knife in there on our own low budget podcast that has zero exclusive info, DC Studios Showcase will feature, “exclusive interviews with DCU creators, filmmakers, and talent to recurring comic segments.” Our official statement on this? Harumph.

“The Max podcast team is committed to creating new ways to immerse fans deeper into our iconic IP and programming,” said Becky Rho, Senior Director of Podcast Production at HBO and Max, via press release. “This exciting new podcast allows us to partner with DC and DC Studios to create a platform that offers the fandom a never-before-seen look at all-things DC, as well as an in-depth look into the minds, insights and experiences of the key figures shaping the DC Universe.”

The series won’t just be on podcast platforms, it will also stream on Max and YouTube, with new episodes releasing every other Friday (see? bi-weekly). The podcast will also be available audio-only wherever podcasts are found, which I guess we wouldn’t know with our little podcasts or whatever.

(Just kidding, I’m sure this will be fun, and congrats to those involved.)

The series is Executive Produced by Executive Producers for DC Studios: Phil Tsopanides, and Gary Barbosa, Executive Producers for DC: Mike Pallotta and Victor Diaz, Executive Producers for Max: Becky Rho, Producers for Max: Savon Slater and Margaret Kelly, Executive Producers for OBB: Michael D. Ratner, Scott Ratner, Arlen Konopaki and Toby Lawless.
