Skybound’s Energon Universe gets hardcover collections
Silver Sprocket announces PeePee PooPoo #100,000.
Maus tops list of 100 best comics.
This is Comic Book Club News for November 28, 2024.
Skybound’s Energon Universe Gets Hardcover Collections:
The Energon Universe from Skybound and Image Comics goes hard. And now it’ll go even harder thanks to three Energon Universe deluxe hardcovers collecting the hit series, all to be released in 2025.
First up is Transformers Deluxe Edition Book One, which collects the first 12 issues of the hit series by Daniel Warren Johnson, Jorge Corona and Mike Spicer. That will hit stores on April 30, 2025.
Then there’s outer space series Void Rivals, which will also get a Deluxe Edition Book One collecting 12 issues of the series, plus material from the Energon Universe 2024 Special, all by Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici, to be released on May 21, 2025.
The most intriguing volume, though, is Codename: G.I. JOE Deluxe Edition Book One. This collects all five issues of the Duke miniseries, and the Cobra Commander series. Notably not included are the Destro or Scarlett miniseries, which tells the full story leading up to G.I. Joe #1. Likely those would come in a prospective Book Two, but that’s pure speculation. It will hit on June 11, 2025.
Perhaps of note, all of these except Destro are currently available as trade paperbacks collecting single arcs. The hardcovers will cost $49.99 each.
Silver Sprocket Announces PeePee PooPoo #100,000:
What comes after PeePee PooPoo #1? How about PeePee PooPoo #100,000? As announced by Silver Sprocket, Caroline Cash’s Eisner Award winning series will continue, jumping ahead 99,999 in the numbering.
This is par for the course for the, per PR, “gay, modern take on the underground comic” series, which previously released issues #69 and #420 before #1.
“In this issue: Caroline tackles the big city in ‘My New York Diary.’ Gaze upon the influencers and icons of Fashion Week, party with the terminally cool (and uncool), and figure out what exactly “celebrity” even means now. All this and more in the next issue of your favorite cartoonist’s favorite comic.”
The 48 page, full-color book will cost $9.99, include a PeePee PooPoo sticker sheet, and hit stores on May 21, 2025.
Maus Tops List Of Best Comics Of All Time:
Maus has topped the list of the best 100 comics of all time — at least according to Belgium’s Moustique.
Per The Beat, while Art Spiegelman‘s iconic graphic novel memoirs of the Holocaust took the top slot, other familiar books were also on the list. V for Vendetta was at #4, Chris Ware’s Building Stories was at #9, Emil Ferris’ My Favourite Thing is Monsters at #10, Watchmen at #19, and Batman: Arkham Asylum hit #34, the lone superhero book other than the two Alan Moore series.
Also just to clarify something the magazine is called Moustique which translates as “mosquito” not “mouse-tique” which would imply a sort of bias with their number one choice. Still a great book, regardless.
