IDW recently revamped its logo — but that’s not the only thing the publisher is updating for 2025. As of yesterday (November 25), the IDW app is back with a free comics reading platform that includes everything from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees.
“We are excited to provide our fans with a mobile reading experience for the fantastic stories our creators have put their passion behind,” stated Sean Brice, Senior Director of Sales, via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “With the new IDW app, fans instantly have access to decades of IDW content, new and old, at their fingertips with the click of a button. Want to find back issues you missed to complete a story or binge read that long ongoing series that seemed daunting to get into? Or maybe you want to download and read the series you’ve fallen behind during a trip over the holidays? Fans can now accomplish all of that with the new IDW app.”
Per IDW, the new app features a “revamped search function,” and an offline mode which allows readers to download comics and — you guessed it — read them offline. However the most intriguing new function is the ability to choose to read comics horizontally or vertically. Though as of right now that seems to iterate as flipping pages by scrolling right to left, or up and down, it potentially gives IDW the option to add comics in the relatively newer vertical format that has been adopted by some other companies.
The new app is live now and features new releases like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto #1, Star Trek: Lower Decks #1, and much more.
