Marvel Announced Its Lineup Of Titles For Free Comic Book Day 2025:
No need to check your calendar, it’s still November. But like how Halloween decorations get jettisoned immediately for Christmas ornaments, Marvel is jumping all the way ahead to May, 2025 to reveal next year’s Free Comic Book Day offerings. And it’s an array of heavy hitters including Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-Man, Star Wars and more.
Held on May 3, 2025, the annual celebration allows fans to pick up free comic books — though of note the retailers purchase them so it’s not free to everyone. Regardless, to get you hyped for six months from now, here’s what to expect.
First up there’s Fantastic Four/Giant Size X-Men, which finds the FF responding to an interdimensional summons right before they hit the big screen in July. On the X-Men side, there’s an X-tra X-Man being teased. And Chip Zdarsky has something in this book, too, which sounds ominous.
Then in Amazing Spider-Man/Ultimate Universe, Joe Kelly and John Romita Jr. team up for a Spidey story, and Deniz Camp and company kick of an Ultimate Universe event. And in the Star Wars special, we’re getting a bunch of short stories from throughout the galaxy.
That’s not all, though, as there’s also a Marvel Voices issue with a new Ironheart story from Justina Ireland, and an all-ages book with Iron Man, Spidey, and their awesome friends.
You can pick them all up at your local store on the first Saturday in May, but do them a solid, and buy something while you’re there.
Dark Horse Collecting Avatar Shorts In New Omnibus:
Dark Horse‘s Avatar: The Last Airbender comics have been consistently excellent. But some of them haven’t been collected in one big volume… Until now.
Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Lost Adventures and Team Avatar Tales Omnibus collects 312 pages of stories, making it almost as long as the title of the book. The official continuation of the Nickelodeon series contains stories from both The Lost Adventures and Team Avatar Tales, and includes stories by Avatar co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino, as well as Gene Luen Yang, Gurihiru, Faith Erin Hicks, Kiku Hughes, and many more.
Here’s the official synopsis, per PR from Dark Horse:
Follow Team Avatar as they journey through the Four Nations! From Earth King Kuei to the Kyoshi Warriors, and Mai to the Boulder, your favorite Avatar: The Last Airbender friends are back for a wide-ranging exploration of life in their world. And where they go, danger, fun, and hijinks are sure to follow!
The omnibus will be a 6″ x 9″ paperback, and retail for $39.99. It hits bookstores on June 3, 2025, and comic shops on June 4, 2025.
Fantagraphics To Collect Complete Hate:
Now, here’s some news we don’t hate: Fantagraphics is collecting the Eisner Award-winning Peter Bagge comic Hate in a new set of paperbacks.
Per ICv2, the appropriately named The Complete Hate is a paperback edition of the first 30 issues, nine annuals, and other materials previously published in hardcover in 2020. That set of three volumes cost $119.99, while the first paperback will only cost $29.99.
If you’ve never read the book before, it’s a Gen X adventure through ’90s Seattle, and a perfect snapshot of time and place. The first volume will go on sale on August 5, 2025, right after the sequel, which came out this past June, hits as a collection in July, 2025.
