A Graphic Novel Biography Of Elon Musk Likely Won’t Get An English Translation Because Of “Legal Consequences”:
Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter is a graphic novel biography of the billionaire by writer/artist Darryl Cunningham, recently published by Delcourt Editions in France. However, according to the creator, the book likely won’t be published internationally because of “possible legal consequences.”
The news comes via Cunningham’s Patreon account, where he notes that “publication in other countries looks unlikely. I’m told that there was interest from various international publishers at the recent Frankfurt Book Fair, but there was concern over possible legal consequences.”
Cunningham continues that shouldn’t be a problem as “I was careful not to write anything that hadn’t already been published elsewhere and Delcourt’s lawyers examined every word and line for problems. Nevertheless, we live now in a climate of fear where the worst people have immense power, and because of this there’s going to be a tendency for individuals, institutions, businesses, and the state to run for cover.”
While it doesn’t seem likely there will be an English translation of the book, if you’re curious to check it out and live in the UK, you might be able to get a copy at OK Comics in Leeds.
And in case you can’t find a copy, or don’t read French, here’s Cunningham’s ultimate realization about Musk. “Knowing what I know about the man, my conclusion is that it’s incredible that such a mediocre figure can amass such wealth.”
DC’s Compact Comics Line Adds 15 For 2025:
DC Compact Comics has been a hit for the publisher. The pocket-sized books collect new-reader-friendly volumes of classic comic book runs and stories, for the affordable price of $9.99. Clearly, readers and stores have responded because all 10 of the books released in 2024 have gone back for second printings. And now DC is expanding the program, with 15 new Compact Comics to be released in 2025.
If you haven’t checked them out before, the full-color trades are 5.5″ x 8.5″, and include an array of titles including Watchmen, All-Star Superman, Far Sector, and more. And Watchmen has proven so popular it’s gone back for a third printing. In 2025, new titles being released include Kingdom Come, Batwoman: Elegy, DC: The New Frontier, V for Vendetta, We3, and curiously given current controversial allegations, Death by Neil Gaiman.
The 15 new Compact Comics will be released between May and November of 2025.
Tomb Raider Collection Coming From Dark Horse:
No need to raid a tomb, the Tomb Raider Colossal Collection Volume 1 is coming next year from Dark Horse.
The massive 888-page volume will include issues #1-24 and #26-36 of the Top Cow series from 1999 through 2003, featuring stories by Dan Jurgens, Adam Hughes, Michael Turner, Andy Park, Marc Silvestri, David Finch, and more.
If you’re wondering why the volume skips issue #25, it’s because that was the first part of a three-part crossover with Witchblade and Evo, and Dark Horse confirmed to Comic Book Club they do not have the rights to publish the crossover content.
The Tomb Raider Colossal Collection hits stores on June 24, 2025 for $99.99.
