This is Comic Book Club News for November 11, 2024.

Absolute Batman, Wonder Woman Top October Sales Charts:

DC’s Absolute Universe is an absolute hit. For the first time since July of 2023, DC Comics took the top slot on ICv2‘s sales chart for October of 2024. And not only that, they took the top two slots on the chart with Absolute Batman #1, and Absolute Wonder Woman #1, both on units sold and dollars earned.

In fact, the publisher had a better overall showing than they have in months on the chart, with 14 titles total making the Top 50, versus the 10 or less they’ve regularly been snagging. Still, no other titles broke into the top 10, including the reportedly sold-out DC All In Special #1 and Detective Comics #1090, which charted at 12 and 20, respectively.

In fact, even with inroads made, Marvel still dominated the list with 28 titles, including Ultimate Spider-Man #10 at number three, and Uncanny X-Men #4 at number four.

Image Comics snagged the number five spot for Transformers #13, while two TMNT titles charted for IDW, and Dynamite’s sole entry was Terminator #1.

Will the Absolute Universe continue its domination in November? Stay tuned.

Marvel Is Not Releasing A New Young Avengers Series In 2025:

In a follow-up to a report last week, Marvel is not releasing a new Young Avengers series, as reported elsewhere. The news comes via editor Tom Brevoort’s newsletter, responding to a fan question about the news.

Though Brevoort hadn’t read the original reports, he added that the news has, “been wildly misinterpreted and exaggerated. While the characters will continue to show up where relevant—Patriot is going to play a part in the upcoming SAM WILSON, CAPTAIN AMERICA project, and Wiccan and Hulkling are still floating around the periphery of a bunch of space stuff, there isn’t any plan at the moment for a new YOUNG AVENGERS series. Now, that could change at any time, assuming that C.B. and Wil Moss and the Avengers editorial office feel that they’ve got a creator or a story or a moment where doing such a thing could be successful. But so far, it’s not in any of the plans that I’ve heard.”

That aligns with what we reported last week, that C.B. Cebulski had mentioned the return of Young Avengers at Osaka Comic Con, but did not mention where or how. Particularly given Marvel is releasing New Champions, another young hero team book, a Young Avengers book didn’t make a lot of sense. And now, we know. Sorry, YA fans.

Oni Press Announces The Goddman Tragedy, A New Western Book From Chris Condon:

Chris Condon is an old hand at Westerns, thanks to the critically acclaimed Image Comics series That Texas Blood. And now he’s headed back to the Old West one more time for Oni Press, with The Goddamn Tragedy #1.

Written by Condon with art by Shawn Kuruneru, the one-shot focuses on a woman named Ellen Janson who, years later, decides to set the story straight about the tragic journey her family took in 1846.

Ellen, along with her mother, Irena, and father, Leo, set out to travel to the west for a better life. But, per PR from Oni, “when her father chooses to split off from the party, taking an untested shortcut through the mountains, can their small family survive the elements, the wildlife—and each other? Or will their journey become nothing more than another goddamn tragedy?”

And more importantly: will they eat each other? Come on, you know you were all thinking about it. Be honest.

The Goddamn Tragedy #1, a 48-page one-shot, hits stores in May 2025.
