Making it a hat trick for DC Comics‘s Absolute Universe line, Absolute Superman #1 has sold out, and is heading back to press for a second printing.
In fact, this is the fifth title since DC launched the DC All In initiative that’s sold out at the distributor level, including Absolute Superman #1, Absolute Batman #1, Absolute Wonder Woman #1, Detective Comics #1090, and the DC All In Special #1 that kicked the whole thing off.
Absolute Superman #1 is written by Jason Aaron with art by Rafa Sandoval, and presents a brand new, revamped take on the Man of Steel that brings him (in some sense) back to his origin as a man of the people, fighting for the workers against big corporations.
In our review of the book, we thought it held up “pretty darn well” next to the high watermark of the previously two released Absolute comics, and that Sandoval “can seemingly draw anything and make it look stunning.” That’s probably what pushed it over the top sales-wise, I’m guessing? Yeah, that’s the ticket.
The second printing is available for preorder now, and will hit stores on Wednesday, December 18. The main cover features new artwork by Sandoval and UIises Arreola, and a variant cover by Guillem March. There’s also a foil variant cover by Matteo Scalera, and another variant featuring concept art from Sandoval.
