Uncle Sam Election Edition Heads To Stores:
Just in time for the US election, Abrams is releasing the previously out-of-print Uncle Sam in a new collection titled Uncle Sam: Special Election Edition.
Written by Steve Darnall with art by Alex Ross, the book was originally released through DC’s Vertigo imprint in 1987. The book focuses on the title character as he wanders the streets as a vagrant, speaking in soundbites throughout history; from the assassination of President Kennedy to a Civil War battlefield.
This new edition features, per PR provided to Comic Book Club, “all-new afterwords by Darnall and Ross, as well as an illustrated history of the creation Uncle Sam and how he came to become the iconic symbol of the United States.”
The book is in stores now, and probably a bad way of getting your mind off the election — but a great book well worth checking out anyway.
The One Hand And The Six Fingers Are Getting A Joint Collection:
The One Hand and The Six Fingers is a unique project. The two Image Comics miniseries were announced at the same time, and the publisher even hinted they may be connected in some way. Turns out they’re connected in many ways — and they’ll get even closer with the upcoming trade collection, which will join The One Hand & The Six Fingers in one, collected volume.
In The One Hand, by Ram V and Laurence Campbell, alongside colorist Lee Loughridge, we follow a detective investigating the deadly One Hand killer, who was put in jail twice, years ago. In The Six Fingers, by Dan Watters and Sumit Kumar, alongside Loughridge, we follow a student who may or may not be the “new” One Hand Killer.
The new trade will collect the five issues of each series (for 10 total), and alternate between The One Hand and The Six Fingers to tell the complete story, in order.
The One Hand & The Six Fingers will hit comic book shops on December 11, and bookstores on December 24 — the perfect last-minute Christmas gift for someone who likes really messed up sci-fi mysteries.
Classic ThunderCats Comics Are Getting A Reprint:
Dynamite has been making waves with its revamped ThunderCats comics. And now the publisher is going back in time for a reprint of the 1985 comic book series from Marvel through BackerKit.
Though details are slim on the collections, they will include the complete, 24 issue series that ran from 1985 through 1988. That includes stories by David Michelinie, Gerry Conway, Jim Mooney, Steve Perry, Tom DeFalco, and many more.
In addition, the campaign will include multiple formats, including premium and collectible options.
Called the ThunderCats Classic Years Omnibus, you can sign up on BackerKit now to be alerted when the campaign begins.
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And when are we going to get the classic Snorks comics collected? Wait, update on that. I’m hearing, never.
