After six far-too-brief episodes, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon closes the cover of The Book of Carol with Episode 6, “Au Revoir les Enfants.” And given the ending of the season, you might be wondering when you can watch The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3. While — full disclosure — AMC has not announced an exact premiere date yet, we’ve got some pretty educated speculation about when we can expect Season 3 to premiere.

With that in mind, let’s get into what to expect when we’re expecting The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3.

Will There Be A The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3?

There sure will be a The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3! The series was picked up for a third season in July and began production in August. For the third season, production has moved from France to Spain… And we’ve got some questions about how that works, based on where Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) end up at the end of Season 2. But we’ll leave those for another article.

The point is that both Reedus and McBride are back for Season 3, along with showrunner David Zabel. Joining them in Spain are Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, and Alexandra Masangkay as series regulars, while Candela Saitta, Hugo Arbués, Cuco Usín, Gonzalo Bouza, Greta Fernández, Hada Nieto, Stephen Merchant, Yassmine Othman, Irina Björklund, Armando Buika, Javier Taboada, Boré Buika, Anna Gras, Claudio Bandini, Pedro Bachura, and Elena Sándell join the cast, as well.

So, as mentioned, as of this writing AMC has not announced a Season 3 premiere date. We do know it is in the rough, 12-month period of 2025, but that’s it.

That said? We can make a pretty educated guess based on the production and release schedule of the first two seasons. Season 1 started filming on October 24, 2022, and wrapped by the end of March 2023. Season 1 then premiered on September 10, 2023 on AMC and AMC+. That’s about five months of production, then five to six months of post-production.

Season 2 of Daryl Dixon picked up production soon after Season 1 finished filming, though hit a small delay thanks to the SAG-AFTRA/WGA strikes. However, AMC was granted an exception, and production resumed by September of 2023. Filming wrapped on December 21, 2023. That season then premiered on September 29, 2024. It’s a little trickier to make calculations with this one, because of the unknown start date, the gap in the middle, and the fact that though they were done in December, AMC likely wanted to keep Daryl Dixon on a September schedule. So while production took over the span of nine months and post-production was given nine months, both sections likely took far less time than that.

So, where does that leave us with Season 3? As noted above the show started production in August, and is still filming as of this writing. If they stick to the five-month schedule, it’ll probably wrap at the end of January (or early February). That gives them plenty of time to do the five to six months of post-production necessary for the series, meaning it could be good to go as soon as July 2025.

That said? AMC loves to have a Walking Dead show in the Fall. Even if the episodes are all done by the summer, I still think it’s likely The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 will premiere in September of 2025.

When Will The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Premiere?

As a little bonus here, before The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 premieres, we’re getting The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, and Lauren Cohan as Maggie Rhee. As of this writing, we don’t have a premiere date for this, either, though at New York Comic Con the show announced it would premiere in Spring 2025.

The previous season premiered in June of 2023, and Dead City is filmed on a similar schedule to Daryl Dixon. Season 2 production wrapped in July 2024, so they have plenty of time for post-production. Pure speculation here, but I think we’ll likely see Dead City Season 2 premiere in April or May of 2025. Stay tuned, TWD fam!
