Has ‘Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow’ Found Its Ruthye In ‘3 Body Problem’ Star Eve Ridley?

Ruthye Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow Eve Ridley

Has the DCU‘s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow found its Ruthye? It’s possible they may have, as 3 Body Problem star Eve Ridley’s name has popped up in connection to the movie — and she’d be the perfect fit for the role, too.

Mind you, take this whole thing with a grain of salt for a number of reasons. First and foremost, it comes from this week’s issue of Production Weekly. We bring this up every time we write up something from PW, but they very openly state that they’re providing a resource for people who want to work behind the scenes in production and do not vet their listings. Often, listings and information are pulled directly from online (synopses in particular), or from rumors that have popped up from scoopers.

However, they are as often right on the money about things. For example, the listing for Marvel’s Vision series (not the final title) listed James Spader as part of the cast a full 24 hours before he was officially announced in the trades. And they announced the Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover movie again a day before it was announced at CinemaCon. So while you should squint your eyes at anything they post, there is often info to be gleaned there.

Take, for example, the listing for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Based on the comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, there are three main roles that need to be cast in the film (beyond Krypto the Superdog, who may or may not make his way into the movie from James Gunn’s Superman). The first is Supergirl, who is being played by Milly Alcock. The second is the villain, Krem, who is played by Matthias Schoenaerts.

The third part of the troika is Ruthye, a young alien girl who chronicles her adventures with Supergirl as they track down Krem — after the latter injures Krypto — and grows up and learns the ways of the universe in the process. It’s a crucial role that, per Gunn, was already doing screentests back a few weeks ago, when the DCU chief appeared at New York Comic Con.

So why bring this all up now? Because Production Weekly lists three actors attached to the project: Alock, Schoenaerts… And Eve Ridley. A cursory internet search shows that her name doesn’t show up anywhere in relation to this project, so it’s entirely possible that she is attached in some fashion, it just hasn’t broken yet. And while PW doesn’t list the role Eve Ridley is supposed to be playing… What else would the almost 13-year-old play in the movie, other than Ruthye?

If you don’t know Ridley, she’s probably best known for playing Follower, a young girl in the virtual reality “game” that anchors a chunk of the plot on Netflix’s 3 Body Problem. She’s also done the voice of Maple Monkey on 15 episodes of Little Baby Bum: Music Time. And on Casualty she played Saffy Blackmore on one episode. She’s also on Instagram at misseverid, but hasn’t posted on clues as far as I can tell.

So is Eve Ridley playing Ruthye in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow? There are a lot of “ifs” there, from if PW is on the money about her being in the movie, and if she’s playing Ruthye, if so. But hey, if the trades do announce it in 24 hours: you heard it here first.
