Charlize Theron Teams Up With Dark Horse For Imbokodo:
Charlize Theron’s media venture Secret Menu is teaming up with Dark Horse for a new comic book. Titled Imbokodo, the paperback collects all four issues of the comic series, with an “eye towards a scripted adaptation.”
The book focuses on a war between gods and humans, and a woman caught in the middle trying to find her missing sister.
Said Theron via a press release, “When Thabo and Thabiso… first brought us this idea, we were so impressed with the epic scope and emotional depth of this world they created with such incredibly powerful female African warriors at the center. We knew we found a perfect home in Dark Horse when they saw the same potential in [their] unique and special vision.”
Imbokodo runs 104 pages and will hit bookstores on July 15, 2025, and comic shops on July 16, 2025.
Fantastic Four: Full Circle Gets An Expanded Edition:
Alex Ross’s Fantastic Four: Full Circle is one of the most lauded graphic novels of the past few years. And now it’s getting an expanded edition from Abrams, with over 250 new pages of material and commentary from Ross. The better news? It’s in stores now.
The original book was a 64-page OGN by Ross, revisiting a classic Stan Lee and Jack Kirby story from Ross’s unique perspective. The new version runs a whopping 352 pages, and includes “early visual concepts through final art… his proposal, thumbnails, sketches, inks, color guides, models, and preliminary artwork, the majority of which have never been published before.”
In addition, the book includes all of Ross’ covers from Fantastic Four from 2023-2024, and the original Lee and Kirby story from 1966.
Fantastic Four: Full Circle (Expanded Edition) is in bookstores on October 29, and comic book stores on October 30.
Jim Lee X-Men Tribute Hits Marvel’s Ultimate Universe Covers:
This year’s hottest trend? Connecting variant covers that pay tribute to Jim Lee’s classic cover for X-Men #1. First, it was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, then Resurgence of the Valient Universe. And now Marvel’s Ultimate Universe titles are getting in on the action.
The six-part series is by artist Josemaria Casanovas, and will run on covers starting this week with Ultimate X-Men #8, leading all the way up to Ultimate Wolverine #1 in January. Not only does the connecting cover look neat, per Marvel it also “teases upcoming storylines and characters from future issues—including the long-awaited return of the creator of this exciting universe, the Maker!”
Pretty cool, but wake me when everyone starts doing tributes to that cover of West Coast Avengers where Master Pandemonium turned the Scarlet Witch’s babies into his arms.
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. Seriously, wake me up when that happens, I’m asleep right now.
