Marvel has been rapidly expanding the amount of Disney/Marvel Comics mashups happening, both on variant covers and in books themselves. And now, the biggest crossover yet: Mickey Mouse and Friends will become the Fantastic Four monthly on issues of the book, starting in 2025.
In the homages to classic covers, Mickey becomes Mister Fantastic, Minnie is Invisible Woman, Goofy is the Human Torch, and Donald Duck is The Thing. There’s no word on whether Toodles will become HERBIE, but one can hope.
The Disney/What If? Fantastic Four Homage Variant Covers will kick off with tributes to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s Fantastic Four #3 and #51, which you can check out below. And Marvel also plugs that it’s going to be a big year for the team — Fantastic Four, not Mickey and Friends — with the MCU movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and their “pivotal” role in the One Worlds Under Doom event. They also tease that, “Fans can also look forward to a startling storyline coming to the pages of Ryan North’s acclaimed run later in the year as well as more variant cover programs celebrating the groundbreaking Super Hero team that started it all!”
