In a surprise to exactly nobody, Disney and Marvel Studios have removed Blade from its November, 2025 release date, replacing it with Predator: Badlands. In addition, the studio has added three more mystery Marvel movies for 2028.
Thus ends (for now) a long journey to screen for the vampire hunting reboot, which announced actor Mahershala Ali was taking the role previously played by Wesley Snipes way back in 2019. Since then the movie has lost two directors and cycled through multiple screenwriters. In fact the only elements the movie has seemed to retain are Ali, and actress Mia Goth who was slated to play villain Lilith.
With no director attached and a script seemingly unfinished, there was no way that Blade was going to make that November date. It hasn’t officially been canceled, though, so it’s still possible it could fill one of the seven “Untitled Marvel” dates Disney is holding at the moment.
Perhaps of note, Wesley Snipes, who played Blade in the original trilogy, reprised the role in Deadpool & Wolverine, with some calling for Snipes to get the “Old Man Logan” treatment — including Ryan Reynolds — for one more movie. Perhaps plans have changed that much, perhaps not.
