As just announced at the DC Comics Absolute Universe/DC All In panel at New York Comic Con, Lex Luthor will take center stage in an upcoming one-shot, appropriately titled Superman: Lex Luthor Special.
Written by Joshua Williamson, with art by Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira, the special picks up after the end of “House of Brainiac,” which found Lex with his memories wiped clean… And perhaps not stupid, but certainly more naive and earnest than we’ve seen him previously.
But as we catch up with him in the one-shot, per PR provided by DC Comics, “following the DC All In Special, the world needs him to remember his past. There’s a key piece of information in Lex’s past that could unlock an epic mystery plaguing Superman and the Justice League, but Lex may not want to remember. It’s up to the Man of Steel to decide if the info is worth sacrificing Lex’s newfound peace and the return of his fiercest enemy.”
So will Lex Luthor return as a bad guy before the end of this special? I don’t want to tip DC’s hand too much, but there is a Superman movie coming out in 2025 where Lex Luthor is the main villain. So yeah, probably.
Superman: Lex Luthor Special hits stores on January 29, 2025. Check out the cover, below.
