As just announced at DC Comics‘ Absolute Power/DC All In panel at New York Comic Con, John Ridley and Ryan Parrott are co-writing a book called Justice League: The Atom Project. And yes, it will include three Atoms.
Along with art by Mike Perkins, the book is a “spy thriller,” per PR provided to Comic Book Club that “features Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi (the heroes called Atom) working with the newly re-formed Justice League to bring order to chaos, restoring and backing up the superpowers of DC’s Super Heroes following their battle with Amanda Waller. But not everyone wants their powers back, and one hero will do whatever it takes to make sure his abilities are never found—Captain Atom!”
In case that sounds like nonsense to you, at the end of Absolute Power, most heroes got their powers returned. Some didn’t. And others got mixed up in ways that are TBD. It sounds like Captain Atom would prefer not to be Captain Atom anymore. Which if you’ve been reading the out-of-continuity Jenny Sparks title from DC, certainly tracks.
