At a breakfast event held in conjunction with New York Comic Con this morning, attended by Comic Book Club among other members of the press, Comixology announced a dramatic increase in new titles — and creators — coming to the platform starting as soon as this month… Though amping up even more in 2025.
“The Comixology Originals exclusive digital content line plays a key part in our business,” said Jeff DiBartolomeo, head of Comixology via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “The Comixology Originals program is here to stay. We’ve been busy signing deals for 17 new creator-owned projects with new teams joining the family and some fan favorite creators returning to work with us again. We’re thrilled to help both new faces and industry veterans bring their stories to the public through Comixology Originals. To say we are excited about the future is an understatement.”
Coming up are 17 newly acquired projects by an array of writers and artists, though at this time exact pairings and titles weren’t announced. Those include: Serg Acuña, Matthew Arnold, Frank Barbiere, Marc Bernardin, John Broglia, Mike Collins, Alex Cormack, Cat Farris, Valeria Favoccia, Alti Firmansyah, Veronica Fish, Adam Freeman, Davide Gianfelice, Marc Guggenheim, Kim-Joy, Neil Kleid, Szymon Kurdanski, Lee Loughridge, Vic Malhotra, Marz Jr., Chris Matthews, Omar Morales, Mau Mora, Tom Morello, Stephen Rhodes, John Romita, Jr., Gonzalo Ruggieri, Mark Schey, Alex Segura, Scott Snyder, Taki Soma, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Jordan Thomas, Steven Thompson, and Harvey Tolibao.
Whew. In addition to those titles, Comixology also teased and announced a number of new titles debuting soon, as well as promoting corporate owner Amazon’s new Kindle Colorsoft — which with a screen better suited for the outdoors is perfect for reading comics on your deck. Deck not included.
Not only that, but Comixology is amping up its print distribution partnerships — continuing the one with Dark Horse Comics, and expanding to working with Ablaze, and Mad Cave Studios. Upcoming titles coming to print through the Ablaze deal include Parliament of Rooks and Harvey Kurtzman’s Marley’s Ghost. Meanwhile, Mad Cave Studios will release 10 Comixology Originals to bookstores, including Beneath, Boxed, Breaklands V2 and V3, Ghostbox, The Ghost of Wreckers Cove, Groupies, Midstate, Nostalgia, and Wag.
