New York Comic Con is just beginning, and if that thought makes you want to sail off into the distance, has San Diego Comic-Con got some great news for you… Comic-Con: The Cruise, an upcoming event set on a cruise ship, has announced a slate of guests, events, and more.
Setting sail from February 5-9, 2025 from Tampa, Florida to Cozumel onboard the Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas, Comic-Con: The Cruise aims to provide a niche experience that spins off the madness of SDCC.
“We’re excited to show Comic-Con fans what Comic-Con: The Cruise has in store for them when it sails in 2025,” said Greg Laubach, Executive Director of Entertainment Cruise Productions, via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “These talented actors and insiders will be on the ship day and night, with limitless opportunities for everyone to get to know them during performances, activities and events in a whole new kind of way.”
Here’s the guest lineup of folks who will be wining, dining, and possibly swimming with you (there’s a pool on board, they’re not going to make you swim in the ocean):
Warwick Davis, George Takei, Ernie Hudson, Mary McDonnell, Tricia Helfer, Grace Park, Rekha Sharma, Amy Jo Johnson, Scott Grimes, Greg Grunberg, Virginia Gardner, Grace Caroline Currey, Jonah Ray and Ted Lange, Guest Host Felicia Day, industry insider Robb Pearlman, Bob Bergen (voice of Porky Pig), makeup artist Thomas Surprenant and cosplay guests Yaya Han and Cowbutt Crunchies. The cruise will also feature an Artists’ Alley with Amanda Conner, Adam Hughes, Jimmy Palmiotti, Afua Richardson, Kip Rasmussen, Sarah Myer and Joe Wos, and partnerships with Bob Ross, Inc. and Peanuts (featuring artists Justin Thompson and Mary Shyne). Onboard performances include The Action Figures (featuring Scott Grimes, Greg Grunberg and Amy Jo Johnson), celebrity DJ Alanah Pearce, dueling piano players Brian Wilk and Brad Heron and party band Funky Bonez.
Hey, save a cabin for me, guys! Anyway, though specifics are TBA, CCTC promises that you’ll be able to “rub shoulders” with your favorite stars, and presumably talk to them as well — beyond the shoulder rubbing. There will be special shows every night, “Talent Hosted tastings, trivia sessions, live demonstrations and more.” There will also be theme nights, cosplay events, competitive video and tabletop gaming, vendors, panels and Q&A sessions, meet-and-greets, and autograph and photo sessions.
In addition, if you get tired of the shoulder rubbing, there’s also plenty to do on the boat including a casino, a rock climbing wall, a mini golf green, a spa, restaurants, and of course you can stare off into the sea and pretend you’re Aquaman.
Comic-Con: The Cruise starts ay $990 for a double occupancy room. Tickets are on sale now at www.comicconthecruise.com.
