After nearly a year of stories, the ThunderCats are ready to take on the big bad guy, Mumm-Ra. And based on the covers for the issue, it might not go well for Lion-O. The conflict, teased by publisher Dynamite, will kick off in ThunderCats #11.
“It’s been an amazing experience, from the initial enthusiasm, to the amazing sales, to the actual feedback from readers,” said writer Declan Shalvey via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “Couldn’t be happier with how things have gone. Currently I’m having to switch things up as the original plan was to do a year-long reboot, but with the sales momentum being so strong, we now have at least another year on the book. We really have found a great groove, and getting to continue this book is a golden opportunity to see how that collaboration evolves.”
While the first story arc provided the origin of the ThunderCats and their arrival on Third Earth, and the second arc set up the showdown between our heroes and the evil Mu’Tants, ThunderCats #11 brings Lion-O to Mumm-Ra’s Black Pyramid, to take him on alone. The issue is written by Shalvey, with art by Drew Moss.
The issue will feature covers by Lucio Parrillo, Shalvey, Jae Lee, and Ivan Tao, as well as Manix, Drew Moss, and an incentive variant by Felipe Massafera. The issue hits stores in December, but you can check out the covers now, below.
