Move over, ThunderCats, here come the SilverHawks. The sister series to the thunder, thunder, thunder, thunder cats will launch from Dynamite, writer Ed Brisson, and artist George Kambadais in 2025.
“When Dynamite launched ThunderCats I immediately began to pester Declan [Shalvey, ThunderCats writer] about the possibility of a SilverHawks book,” said Brisson via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “When [editor] Nate [Cosby] reached out to me to write ThunderCats: Apex, my first question was ‘When are you doing SilverHawks?!?’. I am very excited that this book is happening and that I’m privileged enough to be involved. I couldn’t ask for a better collaborator than George. So, strap in, because I’m about to pour all the love I have for the SilverHawks into this baby. I’m going to make you all love it too!”
In case you’re not as familiar as Brisson, SilverHawks came from Rankin/Bass as “an extension” of ThunderCats, but “with a cosmic setting and tone.” While no specific plans were announced, Dynamite does indicate that ThunderCats and SilverHawks — as well as any potential spinoffs — will be under the same “umbrella.” Meaning crossovers are possible in the future for both titles.
SilverHawks focuses on a “grizzled space cop Stargazer, and the team he assembles to deal with the galactic threat unleashed by the escape from Limbo of Mon*Star and his mobs across the stars.” Other characters include “field leader and tactician Quicksilver, ace pilot and free spirit Bluegrass, the strong and silent bruiser Steelwill, compassionate and independent Steelheart, introspective illusionist Hotwing, and unpredictable inventor Copper Kid.”
The first issue will feature both foil and metal-enhanced covers, including ones by Lucio Parrillo, Jae Lee, James Stokoe, Declan Shalvey, Geraldo Borges, Manix, and Declan Shalvey. The first issue will debut in January of 2025. Check them out below, and click for larger versions.
