Absolute Batman #1 continues to be an absolute hit, as the book has sold out its second printing, and will head to a third.
Per PR provided to Comic Book Club from DC Comics, the third printing of the issue will feature a main and variant cover with art by series artist Nick Dragotta, and series colorist Frank Martin, a “Bats Are Crazy” variant cover based on Dragotta and Martin’s art, and a variant cover featuring original art by Jerome Opeña.
Written by Scott Snyder with art by Dragotta, and features a brand-new take on The Dark Knight in the completely new Absolute Universe. Infused with chaotic, dark Darkseid energy, this universe finds a Batman who isn’t rich, an Alfred Pennyworth who is a merciless killer, and villains who were friends of Bruce Wayne’s growing up. Oh, and Batman’s mom is still alive.
This is very much anecdotal, but visiting my own local comic book shop this past Wednesday, they seemed thrilled with the reception to Absolute Batman #1, and said that patrons were calling the shop all day to ask if copies were still available. Even better, they wanted to read the book, not just collect ’em all per the ’90s and 2000s comics bubble boom.
Now, everyone will have a chance to pick up the issue, whether it’s the first, second, or third printing.
The third printing of Absolute Batman #1 will hit comic book stores on Wednesday, November 27, but you can check out a few of the covers, below.
