Last week’s new comics were All In. This week? It’s time to get Absolute with our full list of new comics this week for October 9, 2024.
I’m talking, of course, about the kick-off of DC Comics’s Absolute Universe with the sold-out Absolute Batman #1 by Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta. Having gotten a sneak peek at it, I can confidently say it’s a killer issue with some wild visuals, and a must pick up. Also from DC All In? New teams on Action Comics and Batman and Robin.
Marvel, meanwhile, launches a sure-to-be-bloody Blade: Red Band, spinning out of Blood Hunt. But my most anticipated issue of the week is Sentinels #1, which brings on the bad guys as we meet a slew of new mutant hunters. Star Wars: Ewoks #1 promises a “caravan of carnage.” And Ultimates #5 introduces the new Ultimate Hawekey of Indigenous heritage.
Other highlights include Toxic Avenger #1 from AHOY Comics, which brings the Troma classic to the printed page. The Terminator #1 from Dynamite also brings back a classic, with some killer robots in new situations. Dracula: A Storybook Portfolio from J.H. Williams III looks pretty stunning, as you’d expect from the artist. And BOOM! Studios brings back Josie Campbell’s delightful I Heart Skull-Crusher, and wraps up Phillip Kennedy Johnson’s disturbing Crocodile Black.
