Skybound and Image Comics‘s blockbuster G.I. Joe #1 is a little over a month away. In advance of the release, the publishers have revealed four connecting variant covers by David Nakayama, highlighting the women of G.I. Joe — and Cobra.

“David is one of the hottest and most in-demand cover artists working today, and we’re thrilled he was able to do not one, but four covers for this connecting set,” said Ben Abernathy, Executive Editor at Skybound, via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “The exuberance that comes across in these covers is just a taste of what’s to come when readers finally get to devour the all-new G.I. JOE.”

Written by Joshua Williamson, with art by Tom Reilly and colors by Jordie Bellaire, G.I. Joe #1 is the culmination of multiple miniseries focusing on individual characters in the Energon Universe. Now, they’re all together, with Conrad Hauser, aka Duke, leading a team of G.I. Joe’s to take on COBRA… With Cobra Commander in possession of a slew of Energon, making the baddies supremely powerful.

While I’m personally not totally familiar with the G.I. Joe characters, I do know one of the covers features Baroness, who, in a twist, is actually on the G.I. Joe side. There’s also a slew of female COBRA soldiers because it’s 2024 and women can be evil soldiers just like men. And there’s also, I want to say… G.I. Jane and Cover Girl? I just looked at some action figures and they sort of look like them, but I don’t know.

Would you believe I’m excited about this book? I am! I just don’t know the names of G.I. Joe characters, I’m sorry!

G.I. Joe #1 hits stores on November 13. Check out David Nakayama’s connecting covers for the first four issues, below, and click for larger versions.
