Artist Meredith McClaren has been making a name for herself with the stunning Black Cloak from Image Comics, alongside writer Kelly Thompson. And now McClaren is breaking out on her own with the new Oni Press graphic novel Meat Eaters… A bloody teen horror OGN coming next year.

“MEAT EATERS is an ode to all the teen horror television I lovingly consumed over the years,” said McClaren via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “Where there are bad things in the world, sometimes they hurt you, and sometimes that makes you change in ways you do not like.”

In the book, a teen named Ashley wakes up one night, covered in blood. Oh, and also, dead. And not only that she has a craving for bloody, fresh meat. Now, the formerly ambitious teenager has discovered a world of ghouls and monsters, and “is slowly drawn into the realm of the unusual, getting advice from ancient vampires, dodging angry pack leaders, and becoming the reluctant big sister to werewolves Motley and Harrison. As she does, she finds it increasingly difficult to put away the parts of herself she wishes to ignore—namely, what happened that fateful night she stopped breathing. The truth, it turns out, can’t stay buried forever.”

The book hits stores in July of 2025. Check out several interior pages and the cover from Meat Eaters below. And click for larger versions.
